About to start on the paramount channel. I have NEVER seen this film!

I think it's something to do with a man with a deep hatred of doors and a famous horse?

Tense and well acted but I'm surprised the late great film critic Roger Ebert gave it his top rating.

A solid 7-10 for me

Enjoyed it so far. I like Stephen King, never read this one. I normally find his book adaptions disappointing.
There was a documentary about him befoe this, there is a new Pet Cemetary version being made. That's a great book.

Yes. She came in two variants, the one we'd all like, and the one Wayne Rooney would like Wink

I've seen this film and can't entirely make up my mind. I've got a feeling it might be brilliant, a work of genius, but I'm not quite sure yet.

In the stephen king documentary before it, he was a bit scathing of it and how Kubrick did it.
He says the idea was to have a story develop where the Nicholson character starts sane but is driven mad by isolation, but the film is he is pretty much mad from the start.

IT's ok though. I also really liked the "IT" book. THe original adaptation was imho crap. The new one is better?

Green mile was a good version, but pretty much anything Hanks touches is good.

What was really funny in the documentary before it was King saying some woman said to him that she didn't like his work and thought horror films were bad and he should write good things like "The Shawshank Redemption" .. which he wrote LaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

It is alledged that Kubrick changed a lot of details in the book to his filmed version as a way of letting the world know about his involvement in the faked moon landings. There are a few videos and documentaries on the internet regarding this, one of which is room 237. One documentary delves deep into the Shining and Eyes Wide Shut, citing his knowledge of the illuminati.

If you read the novel The  Shining, you realise very quickly that Jack Torrance, is a recovering alcoholic and is a very disturbed man, even before he goes to be the janitor at the hotel.
