Germany's top spy not convinced migrants were hunted down in Chemnitz Germany's domestic spy chief told a newspaper he was not convinced that migrants were hunted down in the eastern city of Chemnitz after the fatal stabbing of a German man, and suggested a video showing violence may be "targeted misinformation" Germany has been shaken by the most violent right-wing protests in decades after the German man was killed in Chemnitz in the state of Saxony on Aug. 26, for which two immigrants were arrested. Michael Kretschmer, Saxony's conservative state premier, had said on Wednesday that migrants had not been hounded but Chancellor Angela Merkel rebuffed his remark, saying pictures had shown "hate and ... the persecution of innocent people". Hans-Georg Maassen, head of the BfV domestic intelligence agency, appeared to undermine Merkel by telling Bild newspaper's Friday edition: "I share the scepticism about media reports on right-wing extremists hunting down people in Chemnitz." He added: "The domestic intelligence agency has no reliable information about such hunts taking place." Maassen said there was no evidence that a video circulating on the internet was authentic, adding: "Based on my cautious assessment, there are good reasons to believe that it amounts to intentional misinformation, possibly to divert the public's attention from the murder in Chemnitz." Merkel, who has said images from Chemnitz "very clearly" showed hate, on Thursday accused the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) of using violent protests over the stabbing blamed on migrants to stir up ethnic tension. Thomas Oppermann, a senior member of the Social Democrats (SPD) - junior partner in Merkel's ruling coalition - criticised Maassen, telling German broadcaster Deutschlandfunk: "The president of the domestic intelligence agency is causing confusion at the moment." Thank you Edy. It's always helpful to provide a description to ones links - otherwise they tend to get ignored.
Having endured the full six minutes, I am wondering, "What is the fuss all about?" All I saw was a large group of dudes & dudettes basically saying this is their city & gtf out of town. What's wrong with that? At the beginning, there were a dozen or so rowdier people and on three occasions in the six minutes, sections of the crowd became more vociferous and excited. I saw nothing untoward, but then the images were blurred. I didn't bother translating all the words as I wasn't really all that interested and it would have taken too long to translate but toward the end there were two full pages of script. What do they say, please? As for your suggestion that I deal in and post fake news as fact, I can assure you that is absolute bullshine and I expose fake news when I find it. I will thank you to remove your slur that I tell porkies, make up lies and "making up stuff isn't anything new." Guten Tag! |

She wasn't really trying to be kind. It was the logical decision for the most well-off economically country on the continent to finally take a little share of its responsibility after having left Greece and others alone for years, comfortably hiding behind Dublin III.

Before you start talking about the joined decision of Merkel, the Austrian chancellor's and Viktor Orban, to temporarily nullify Dublin III for Syrians having had a significant pull effect, that is simply not true. If you look at the timeline, the number of arrivals, the number of people already on the move at the time, you'll find that confirmed. It's all very well documented.
Now, doesn't mean people weren't invited at one time or another. It's well established that there were broad misinformation campaigns in a number of countries regarding what awaited the people. Campaigns that Deutsche Welle had to fight against. Whether the originator of those misinformation campaigns were just smugglers that smelled a good business, liberals, George Soros, a foreign global power with a known interest to destabalise and weaken the EU, European political actors that directly profited from that situation (and are in bed with a certain foreign power)...I'll leave that up to your own imagination and conclusions. |
