Depardieu made headlines after he was banned from an Air France flight for urinating in the aisle as it prepared to take off, forcing the plane to turn back to its parking spot.

Sums up what an utter **** he is.

Happy to be the chit chat guinea pig and make an effort to "de-normalise" my drinking habits, tho. Anyone care to offer a market? Mon - Sun. No drink yesterday. Last week's total would actually have been 67.2 units

No drink Mon - Thurs now. Not been particularly bothered to go without. Very slight wobble on Wednesday evening when I came close to nipping out for a few beers, but I think this was just because it's been part of my weekly routine for quite a while now.
1.01 the abstinence will not be continuing into the weekend, but my plan is to set the ceiling at 10 and 8 beers for Friday and Saturday respectively, rather than the typical 12 and 10. That would take intake for the week down into the 30s of units. Could actually half last week's intake if I get back on the wagon on Sunday.

Most Days I Drink 1/2 a Litre of Whiskey and 2 Bottles of Henry Weston Cider. I never miss a days work, always after work when I get home. I am single and work Nightshift. Not sure which  relates to why I am single. I have worked Nightshifts or Lateshifts ( finishing at Midnight ) for almost 30 years. I am a young 54 by the way.

Half a litre of whiskey most days? How much whiskey on the other days?

Cripes, that's some going Paddy. Shocked

20 units for me last night. Kept to 10 beers so two down on a typical Friday sitting, but I was pacing myself very nicely early doors and could/should easily have stopped at 8. That'll be the target for next Friday. Can't deny I don't feel the effect on a Saturday morning. If it's true that 1 unit an hour "wears off", I'll still have booze inside me until 2pm this arvo. Plain

Have ersed the numbers up a bit. Was thinking a pint of Stella (4.8%) was 2.3 units, and a pint of 4% 2.1, but actually it's 2.7 and 2.3 respectively.

That means my intake the week before last probably topped 70 units. Plain

Also means that on Friday just gone I had 21.6 units. Saturday I had 4 pints @ 2.3 and 4 tinnies @ 1.8 = 16.4 units. No drink yesterday so final tally for the week was 38 units. Not a bad reduction. Also had the knock on effect of reducing calorie intake by 2,000+ calories, and maybe 15 quid or so. Food (well, drink) for thought.

Aim this week is to stay on the wagon through to Friday (probably been a couple of years since I've gone without a drink five days in a row) and trim down Friday/Saturday consumption some more, aiming for sub-35 units (stretch target 30).

17 cans @ 1.8 units, 2 pints & a bottle of wine @ 8.6 = 45.2 units Fri - Sun. On the wagon now until Friday.

I didn't go to football this week so probably saved myself 6 units. There's no way I could get to 14 a week.

That's not a bad way to live actually; drinking yourself to death.

Seems a lot of trouble and expense to go to when you find life isn't worth living due to old age.

I mean popping over to Switzerland of course to line the pockets of Dignitas to end it all, when a couple of bottles of finest whiskey would do the trick instead.

That's something for us to bear in mind when we're in our dotage.

TV presenter, educated, articulate, mixes with professional people - rich!
Hasn't it dawned on him before now that he was drinking too much?
Education is one thing, common sense is another.

Although, without the heavy-boozing story line he wouldn't have had a programme to sell.

are middleclass couples drinking a heavy bottle of Bordeaux 7 days a week with their evening meal having alcohol problems,or does it only count if drunk in a pub or wrapped in a brown paper bag, think anyone ,dr,s included would gamble 4/5 pints a night over 7 bottles of heavy red wine

Interesting  little programme this , Chiles seems an amiable chap
He was even polite to that schmuck of a psychologist he visited

It's nice to be nice to people if you're making a TV programme.
What's wrong with that?
By:

When: 04 Sep 18 13:14
I thought Chiles was rolling his eyes at the tripe that the psychologist was coming out with.
By:
lfc1971
When: 04 Sep 18 13:16
I meant the psychologist had  misunderstood what Chiles has said
Chiles was polite enough not to say so

That’s ok , but you shouldn’t have to pay money and then be polite when the doctor makes mistakes
imo ( of course it was nothing as important as surgery )
By:
lfc1971
When: 04 Sep 18 13:17
Ah yes that’s true dr , you could see Chiles thinking
But he didn’t say anything
By:
lfc1971
When: 04 Sep 18 13:20
He even accused Chiles of being arrogant for a simple statement of fact

Which the psy  misunderstood

Jomo is right when you work abroad or travelling you tend to drink every night
Sometimes it is a ritual for everyone to go straight back from work  to the hotel bar , have one drink to wind down
Then to your hotel room shower change and out for something to eat and the nearest bar
Then back into work the following day and same again

At least Chiles is having a good time.

Skinner looks like a corpse.
It's good how comedians  spend their lives taking the pee out of others, only to become an object of ridicule themselves.

Although I expect he can laugh it off.

Or even start drinking again!

value is with the white and many nice wans under 11% remain on the shelf  due to the 12.5 min crew ,found a shed load of quality ***** ****** tother day at less than half bat . The micro beers revolution is in full swing ,the speed at which the big names have died is unbelievable but not before time ,the garbage they were producing should have went years ago .Old Cider market staggering along  in Scotland but will soon collapse ,if nothing else the jakies will be on better gear. Cheap cider costing nhs  too much ,need summit worse ...maybe buck fast or carlsberk super in tablet form .
