I'd just take it as rumours, and these rumours seem to have started by a string of local newspaper websites publishing a story about what happens when the Duke does pass away.

If he died during the night, the news would not be released on the bbc until 8am, so it's possible.

Buckingham Palace has quashed rumours swirling worldwide about the health of Prince Philip.

"You could safely assume the Queen and Prince Philip are not dead," a palace press officer told a TVNZ reporter this afternoon.

Also, a Buckingham Palace official has told The Associated Press that a meeting of royal household staff has been called, but that there is "no cause for concern".

The official, who spoke to the AP only on condition of anonymity, said household meetings are called from time to time.

There'll be nowt worth watching on telly for a week, not that there's much anyway.

He did make me chuckle a few years back when he was having his photo taken with many other old people, probably military veterans.

The photographer was dilly dallying for about 2 mintes, and he quite clearly could be heard to say "just take the fukin photo".

It appears to me the rumour starter was confusing him with the other 97 year old chap, Geoffrey Wellum, the Spitfire pilot who fought bravely in the Battle of Britain, whose passing featured on both ITV and BBC main news.

My mate has the book, I'll have a lend of it, cheers.

In some ways it comes over as very ordinary.  Like most brave people.  I hope that is not insulting the courage of him and many others.

But they did tend to shrug it all off and get on with it.
We can certainly learn from their example.
But that is not on trend these days.
