He did make me chuckle a few years back when he was having his photo taken with many other old people, probably military veterans.
The photographer was dilly dallying for about 2 mintes, and he quite clearly could be heard to say "just take the fukin photo". |

It appears to me the rumour starter was confusing him with the other 97 year old chap, Geoffrey Wellum, the Spitfire pilot who fought bravely in the Battle of Britain, whose passing featured on both ITV and BBC main news.

In some ways it comes over as very ordinary. Like most brave people. I hope that is not insulting the courage of him and many others.
But they did tend to shrug it all off and get on with it. We can certainly learn from their example. But that is not on trend these days. |
