Not according to the latest report.

''Fish oil and omega 3 pills ‘have no effect on preventing heart disease''

https://inews.co.uk/news/health/fish-oil-omega-3-food-supplements-no-effect/

I've written before about the claims that Omega 3 protects our hearts are unproven. Now this latest report states the proof is that Omega 3 does not protect our hearts.

Yet we can rest assured that despite these findings, people will still eat oily fish for health reasons, and doctors will continue to advise them to eat oily fish for the same reason.
Leopards don't change their spots.

i thought the idea of this research was that these supplements didnt do what they claimed but oily fish was still
good for you ?

the research did seem to indicate that 1 in 1000 may get a benefit from the supplements

Its only the supplements they're talking about.

which in itself is a shame (for me anyway), cos it would have been a palatable replacement for the rank tasting salmon and mackerel Cry

All Omega 3 not just supplements are of no health value whatsoever so do yourself a favour and leave it be,another red herring from an inherently morally corrupt industry.

Kippers are the only fish I eat that isn't in batter and served up with chips.

Is it not the capsules they are referring to?  Liquid cod liver oil from the bottle is far better for you, as gross as it may taste.

Can you get red herring supplements?
Report Dr Crippen July 19, 2018 10:59 AM BST
We've been told for decades to eat oily fish for the Omega 3 which doesn't do anything it's supposed to do, and drink cow's milk for its calcium content that doesn't give us strong bones and teeth which they claim it does.

And both foods are saturated fat which we've been told to avoid. There's plenty of evidence to support cutting out saturated fat which has gone unchallenged for decades.

With misinformation on that scale, will you ever trust the word of your GP again?

''The most trustworthy studies consistently showed little or no effect of long-chain omega-3 fats on cardiovascular health. On the other hand, while oily fish is a healthy food, it is unclear from the small number of trials whether eating more oily fish is protective of our hearts.”

Believe what you choose to believe from that.

But it clearly states that the evidence isn't there that Omega 3 protects our hearts in any taken form.
