I'm no fan of Cliff ...but he was never charged of any criminal offence...so what the BBC did was a completely over the Top and an invasion of his "private life"
We must have anonymity until charged ...otherwise it's a contravention of our Human Rights!
I'm surprised the Judge didn't award more !

They should lock up the BBC just as they did that Tommy bloke as they are being done for basically the same thing - reporting legal matters that shouldn't be reported (according to the law). I can see the 'Lock Up the Beeb' campaign in The Mail now...........

It was interesting to look at the BBCs amount of coverage of two strangely similar crimes last night with both convictions on the same day, a great opportunity for comparison.

There was a right wing nutter who said he wanted to kill an MP. I'm sure he did and seemed a head case who should be locked up, totally with them on that, but they gave that LOADS of coverage talking about how right wing he was. hey couldn't talk enough about his beliefs and motivations. On the same DAY another fantatical nutter (this time islamist) was convicted of planning to hit not just any MP but the PM!!!! (-and I believe anyone who got in his way). He however got a brief story in passing, and "600 grand a year edwards" AFAIK omitted all words about his motivation or affiliations, they just totally blanked that.

Take a step back here, which is the more noteworthy crime, nutter convicted of planning to attack local MP or another the leader of country in her own home? You'd think the latter - but not the BBC! I was almost surprised the covered the latter at all..
