Net long-term migration to the UK from the EU was 101,000 last year, the lowest
estimate since the year ending March 2013, new figures show.
The overall net migration figure was an estimated 282,000 in 2017, the highest for 18 months.
BC Home Affairs correspondent Danny Shaw said: "The figures from the Office for National Statistics show that the government remains a long way off from meeting its objective to cut overall net migration, EU and non-EU, to the tens of thousands."
While net migration - the difference between the number of people coming to live in the UK for at least 12 months and those emigrating - is continuing to add to the UK population, the figure of 282,000 is down from record highs recorded in 2015 and early 2016.

How many come in each year from Pakistan and other Muslim lands as a result of marrying someone here who they have never met? I'm guessing it's quite a few.

You can't marry someone you have never met and head to UK to join him/her. UK Visa rules ask for considerable proof of contact, which on both sides has to be proven without doubt to a lawyer sent by UK govt to personally meet both parties. Same for Germany. If you are right and people do come the way you mentioned, still its the fault of the govt for letting them in.
In reality, what happens is people come here on student visas or as refugees and then marry someone to gain nationality. This includes buying a British bride on monthly salary and then letting her go after you get the nationality. There are many lawyers who can help you find a willing bride. But even in this case the govt asks for both parties to be living together at least(a few years ago even that wasn't required)

Yes it was Theresa May that cracked down on both students and other freeloaders. I am aware of the requirements as I have worked in that sector. You don't really need a half decent job. You just need to 'prove' you have a half decent job. Basically you have to show a certain amount of tax paid in your name. That can be easily achieved without actually having a job 
Could be more than 40k a year by now. As the number born here increases year on year, so will the number of spouses they import.
Their religion prevents it tbh, we are parallel societies at best. There is currently a white flight situation by the management classes in Thornhill, close to Dewsbury. Prices of nice houses are dropping and they are being snapped up by management class Muslims. I worked for such a fleeing lady just today.

I used the Central line into London daily, for years. In fact I was even involved in a train crash on the central line at (the train I was on ran into the back of a stationary one at Holborn)
It was never fun.
