What I meant to say was their return part was blocked by the water which trapped them into that area. And the track they took up to that point didn't exist anymore.
There are warnings on the way for exactly this type of a situation but as I said, its possible they thought the weather was clear so they weren't in danger. |
|

I can relate to what happened in this case as I have myself faced a flash flood during a hiking trip. A perfectly fine day ruined because our return journey was made impossible because the path we walked on was now a river. Yes it does say 'Flash flood warnings' on the way but you don't expect a flash flood under clear skies. And that is what makes them so dangerous. I was lucky to be on a mountain and not in a cave. We just moved on to the next resting point and there were enough people around anyways.

I must add that we were warned by the locals to go back because water was coming. We thought they were joking but somehow they knew.

Its always been secluded.
Im not saying his intentions were anything other than honourable....but from what we know from data elsewhere its not the first odd thing a football coach has done. |
|
By:
I didn't know the exact meaning of the word secluded so apologies for that. Yes its a secluded area. The coach is also only 24 I guess.

All 13 officially invited to the World Cup Final by FIFA

Feel really bad for that Navy Seal. Left them plenty of oxygen and didn't have enough for himself on the way back.
What a brave man. What a selfless act. RIP |
|
By:
Brave indeed. What's more, the guy had volunteered and wasn't a part of the navy seals deployed there. But I find it hard to believe that he didn't have enough oxygen with him. And he had his partner with him, and still couldn't make it. Just shows this isn't just about swimming through the water. At first I thought he had drowned but he was at a checkpoint when he first went unconscious. I wonder how the kids will make it.
What's more interesting is that the kids didn't run out of oxygen in 9 days! And no one has still been able to figure out which path the fresh air is coming in. Sort of a mystery. |

We could learn much from them. FACT!
|
|

I don't like the way Fifa have invited them. Something like an award in honor of their strength would be much better. Even if they are out tomorrow, the psychological impact is so massive they won't be interested in watching a game of football. Ask the Chilean miners.
|
|
By:
I mean they are talking of inviting someone to a party when that someone is physically and emotionally fighting to live.
|
|
By:
Its not long since I watched that '33' film about those miners.
Has it been ruled out to do something similar, attempt to drill down or laterally? |
|
By:
They say its dangerous because of some reason, what I understood was that the boys are in a narrow place and drilling to that place puts them at risk.
They think they can drill to a place nearby which isn't that deep and can then navigate through the cave to where the boys are. Don't know what the development on that is. |
|
By:
Maybe FIFA are inviting them to Qatar

Team of 18 divers are to start the rescue of the boys today say Thai authorities
|

By:
It has begun.
|
|
By:
being reported that the first couple are out. must be very tense times for the rescuers
|
|
By:
Great news. The first 2 are at the hospital now. As long as the kids don't panic during the journey, they should all make it out.
|

By:
At least two of a group of boys trapped inside a cave in northern Thailand for two weeks have been been successfully brought out, reports say.
Rescuers decided to go ahead with the hazardous operation on Sunday because of fears of rising waters. Divers are guiding the 12 boys and their coach through darkness and submerged passageways towards the mouth of the Tham Luang cave system. They are being rescued in groups. It is unclear how long the mission will take. |

3rd boy out apparently. it must be terrifying for them

Coach should be jailed.

Media said they could be in their for up to 4 months so this is wonderful news.
9 days without food.... No idea what the teacher was thinking but now's not the time..just get them out. |
|
By:
Great news that they are being rescued, I just cannot imagine the terror they have been through.

I hope nobody local has just bought a lamp hoping to take the hobby up.

Agree with the comments about the coach needing some scrutiny here ,the kids are all in football kit ? Is that correct ? Caving in football kit seems odd ,also the rains that trapped them were forecast . Diver lost his life ,bad crack . Someone with a modicum of intelligence suggested diverting the river feeding the cave and that’s how they are out so quickly ,not exactly been reported in the uk correctly ,typical media ,same old same old .

The bbc got that figure as well although I think they said 6 earlier.
Hopefully get all the boys out tomorrow. Don't think the leader will get the same response the boys are getting. |
