Great news they've been found -- and by plucky Brit cavers: a firefighter and an internet engineer, apparently.

Trouble is it now looks like the boys could be stuck there for weeks while the authorities figure out a way to extricate them.

It is indeed a miracle. Down there 10 days.

4 months worth of supplies sent down.

Emergency evacuation would probably be full-face masks and 2 divers per kid leading out.
One facing face to face swimming backwards and one behind carrying kid's tank and steadying direction.

If they are worried about panic then rather than teaching the kids to dive, it might be easier and quicker to knock them out and transport them one at a time unconscious in an oxygenated "coffin".

12 young boys and a football coach fumbling around in the dark looking for a shaft. Sounds like something from the 70's.

Muscles have degenerated apparently through lack of food and not moving around. Could be days getting them fit enough to attempt anything.

We need Ramruma on the next flight to Bangkok, controlling operations.

this is horrific, even heard on bbc that  to get them out some of them need to be taught to swim.

International Rescue would get them out in 45 minutes.  I suggest Virgil in Thunderbird 2 pod 5 carrying the mole.

They are going to have to ask another country for help , why can’t they ask the British military and engineers what can be done ?
By:

The coach has caused all this by taking them into a cave system where he must have known there was a possibility of it flooding.

Should be charged with manslaughter now the diver has died !

The Russians didn’t even tell their own people

Why did the guy take a junior football team into a secluded area?

Very sad with the diver and let's hope they get the water levels low enough before Sunday's predicted rains.

I don't know what drug you and the others here are on, but the british divers who discovered these kids weren't diving around on vacation and magically discovered the boys. They were part of a search team that comprised of people from over 30 nations, including military personnel. These divers were actually sent on the request of Thai authorities, which is exactly you are asking them to do here. Maybe your feeble brain thinks the Thai govt is deliberately blocking foreign aid but not everyone is as bad as the russians, you should stick to your russophobia in matters related to russia, please don't extend it to other countries. I am sure they have asked outsiders for help in rescue, just like they asked for help in the search.

It is quite possible these kids went in knowing the weather was clear. That is the thing with flash floods. THey can happen in a place where it isn't even raining. You don't see the flood coming. It could have been raining a couple of kms away and since monsoon rains just pour down, it doesn't take long for the water to build up and go down the flood path, which is where it causes the damage, not necessarily at the place it rained. The coach made a mistake of course, the Thais have already confirmed he will be prosecuted, if rescued. But it is wrong to think he lead them to a 'secluded area'. It only became a secluded area becasue their return path was blocked by the flood.

Local Volunteers have been specifically told to stay away by the Thai authorities.

So it’s very simple , the British military should be there , or American
What’s wrong with that , you really will have to get over yourself

Ok. British divers are among the best in the world. And british or american military should be there.

I am saying the Thai authorities should be asking the British military and engineers ,
If they have done that fine , have they ?
By:

When: 06 Jul 18 10:05
Yes you moron, the american military is already there. As i siad, people from over 30 nations helped in the search(incl 30 american military experts)and there is no reason why they wouldnt have been asked to help in the rescue as well.

I am not sure if british military has gotten involved yet. But they are usually only required when its a fake war and the americans need sheep. Something like this, the americans can handle themselves, especially with the australians nearby, who are also there before you blame that too on Russia.

A former Thai Navy SEAL has died while trying to rescue the team of young footballers trapped in a cave in Thailand.

Saman Kunan, 37, died due to a lack of oxygen in the tunnel, said Commander Arpakorn Yookongkaew.

Kunan was trying to reach a cavern set up as a command centre 1.2miles inside the cave system when he ran out of air at 2am local time.

From that MSN article, "The boys told rescuers they have heard dogs barking, roosters crowing and children playing despite being 800 metres underground.

This has led officials to think there may be another way out through a 'chimney hole' to the surface."

First I'd heard this.  Could be very great news!

Yes trilby, they even have had access to fresh air over the course of the 9 days but people have still been searching for the path of that air, hoping it could be an escape point. They still haven't been able to figure that out.

After the ex navy guy's death, I am pretty sure they have ruled out forcing the kids to dive. Its a 5 hour journey for the navy seals, you can imagine how hard it would be for 11-16 year olds who can't even swim. Not happening.

They will most probably be there till the monsoon season is over. Unless they come up with a solution like Musk has suggested(easier said than done).
