I was in Buenos Aires in the 60s and you couldn't walk down the street without bumping into a Nazi. I got into a taxi and the first thing the driver said to me was that he had Hitler in the back of his cab the other night. (Actually, that was the second thing. The first thing was, "I'm not going south of the River Plate this time of night".) |

That was fantastic when Denmark won the Euros, a complete shock. I think they only made it there in the first place as some sort of reserve! |

Alas they beat my beloved Germany in the final.
But I couldn't help but smile about the outcome. I think Denmark were there because Yugoslavia were banned on the eve, possibly because of the various conflicts. It was fab to see the idiot pundits humiliated. They said the Danes had no chance of winning the event because they'd had nil time to prepare for it, which was a complete no-no for football tournaments. |
