She was talking about the whole show biz thing in the States that's why I was surprised she was offered another series, but now its all ended up in tears,as I say maybe a bit of pay back

She'll turn up somewhere else. Has made a name for herself for being outspoken and is still a national treasure for her work in the 90s.

Given the current climate, her views and the fact she is wittier than 99.999% of any other person who shares her political views means she's a draw to millions of people.

Expect a weekly show on infowars announced soon.

I can't comment on her of recent as I never seen her in anything but earlier in her career I did and didn't find her funny.
Couldn't get American humour and just to ward off the normal cheap comments I could never get the Carry On humour either.

Calling black people Apes isn't a good career move, why be so bloody stupid?

I pretty much agree with akabuka's post @ 23.23. American humour to me is banal and puerile and that includes Roseanne when it was on. The only American sit com that I liked was Married With Children but that's about it.

I've been watching Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. Bit hit or miss maybe but some of it is genuinely funny even 50 years on.
Some pretty awful British shows are viewed as being "ground-breaking". " Little Britain" is one imo.

It's what her base likes to be fair. The reactionary right are out in force for Bill Maher after he said Trump is like an ape. They think he is left wing

Apparently there may be a "Moral" clause in her contract. So not only is she cancelled, she could be sued for breach of contract.

Hours after ABC's announcement, Ms Barr blamed Ambien, a sleeping pill, for her actions although she said she did not want to give "excuses for what I (she) did but I've done weird stuff while on ambien," in a tweet that has been deleted.

US conservative comedian Terrence K. Williams defended Ms Barr on Twitter. He said she "is not a racist" and that she "made a mistake while she was on Ambien."

The term Ambien has also been trending overnight, with people criticising Ms Barr for using the drug as a defence.

I am glad she has been dropped like the hot turd she is and maybe she might think about the 200 who will be looking for work because of her foul mouth bigotry.

Having said that I did enjoy the show previously and was intrigued as to how the new show would go given that there was such a rich source of material to exploit. Fair's fair. There are a large amount of people in America who share her vile views and while I do not want those racist views broadcast in a manner that makes it ok to talk like that, I think their point of view must be examined and comedy is a good way to do it.

Personally I put little weight on racist remarks from people.

The really bad people are the ones who take trivial remarks and use them as an excuse to damage the person who made the slip.

are you Donald Chump's script writer?

Really bad people?

So it is alright to make racist remarks is it?

It's not okay to make any offensive remarks against other people, but it's certainly not a matter of life or death, or an area where the law should get involved.

I'm sure some people find remarks of a personal nature regarding their appearance far more hurtful than quips about their race.

So why this big deal over race?
