Joking aside, I can't see anything wrong with allowing people, fat or otherwise, to start work later to avoid the rush hour - if the job gets done. They would, of course, have to finish later but this is not mentioned in the article - The Telegraph is becoming an up market version of The Sun!

If they work something like 11am-7pm it would probably mean a lay in, late main meal and no time for gym. Starting earlier 6am-2pm would be better or night shift, the afternoon shift always carries the most weight in my experience.

'News'papers put ever more ridiculous stuff in their rags and online, in order to keep themselves in business.
Among the most irritating aspects of their m.o. is that they manage to apportion blame to others and keep all journalists free from the ridicule they deserve but never get.

Thought this was being done to cut down on attacks on lollipop men.

I should point out I'm overweight but don't want 'special treatment' eat better and move if you can should be all we hear on the subject.

The addictive nature of the Western diet, and the lack of self control in modern people's eating habits guarantees that the obesity epidemic with continue to get worse.
Because no one is fat out of choice.

The suggestion, is an attempt to manage the problem because they know they cant prevent people from getting fat.

maybe exercise and stop gobbling cream cakes would be the answer instead of an office having to stay open later for slobs

Report Dr Crippen May 28, 2018 6:07 PM BST
Exercise seems a waste of time and energy for anyone trying to lose weight.

The exercise makes you hungry and you eat more with the intention of burning it off which you never do, so you end up tired and fatter.

You have to bite the bullet and eat less.

However the weight loss is usually temporary anyway, because most people put the weight back on after they get fed up of depriving themselves.
Report wolf3011 May 28, 2018 6:23 PM BST
Unless someone has a medical issue, I have little sympathy for obese people when you compare it to things like cancer which can attack anyone indiscriminately. It's fairly simple to lose weight and there is a strong argument for denying health care to those who refuse to help themselves - I'd include chronic drinkers/ smokers in that category as well. If they can't be bothered looking after themselves, why should the tax payer pick up the bill?
Report Dr Crippen May 28, 2018 7:10 PM BST
Denying healthcare for self inflicted ailments isn't going to happen because the people in charge are obese themselves.
And with more and more people packing on the pounds it would be a vote loser.

So God only knows where it's going to end.
Most people now regard fat bellies and bums as the normal shape.
And if you're still slim and not on medication by the age of 60, people think there's something wrong with you and you need to see the doctor fast.
