I'm a Londoner, I'm not a "git" as you put it and I haven't got a stupid, gravelly cockney accent either
Having said that a thick cockney accent is rather grating and even I hate it. |

Bobby George isn't from London, he's from a town called Halstead, though he's just outside Colchester in the north of Essex now.
I promise ya, most of us don't talk like that. It's as annoying to most Londoners as it is to everyone else. |

Yeah...I guess it's the same everywhere!
I'm from Yorkshire (North Yorks) but how I detest the worst of South Yorks (laughable) and the ugliness of much of West Yorks! My son's girl, and family, are from Birmingham but are, in fact, very 'posh'! It really is quite ridiculous, how there can be such a difference in accents, on such a small island, with that to include our Welsh, Scottish and Irish neighbours! Have to ponder if, with any other European countries, there are such regional disparities! |

I go to the North East a few times a year L.F.V. and my Geordie mates think I'm posh when really nothing could be further from the truth!

I spent 5 years I'm not getting back, in Liverpool.
Fortunately not everyone there sounds like a dolphin being sick. |

thats nothing
try the black country for versions of what a 'local' is literally a mile could determine whether you are local etc etc it is funny and jokes are told about it |

I spent 5 years in Liverpool, then 5 years in the Black Country.
How weird is that? It is true. Dooodlay, woooolvramptin etc, and no-one has ever travelled even as far as Birmingham. |

I don't mind the traditional cockney accent, it has a certain charm.
What I can't stand is the chavvy youth accent, esp when its white kids trying to sound black. CRINGGGGE FEST ![]() |

Does Ray Winstone REALLY talk like that?
|
|
By:
Ray would surely 'clump' anyone on this thread 'taking liberties'.

Another Londoner signing in. Don’t mind the cockney accent myself if it’s kosher but it’s the mockneys I can’t stand. Lee Mack does a great cockney accent sketch.

Most cockney speaking folk live in Essex/Herts these days. I've heard that today's London accent is considered 'Urban'... it certainly isn't cockney
