In 1963 unlike anybody else on here I WAS STABBED BY A GANG OF Jamaicans I was leaving a a dance venue, (with my future wife) they had just been banned from for selling drugs (purple hearts) and we were the first to leave. It had started then and has never stopped, only escalated, it's in their culture, look at the crime stats in Jamaica FFS. Boxing, you could pinpoint a single person responsible for all the mess in England and I can assure you if the politicians don't want to get rid of that one person, you can't do shet about that. Sadly the public never realizes that. They'll always know where the problems lie, but the people they vote for to solve those problems are there for the very reason that these problems either remain unsolved, or are replaced by similar issues. Maybe when you arrived in England, politics was different. But today, politicians know a public in trouble is way easier to rule than a public that is satisfied. This is the very nature of politics, especially when it is dominated by a two party system(which I am assuming what exists in England with Tory/Labor). But people just can't see past the illusion of democracy and think the politicians work for them.

Hey detraveller good to talk to you again, my singular point was about a cultural immigration based shift in certain areas of London, your wider point is of course correct, our supposedly 2 party system is actually seeded with career politicians exploiting every fear and frailty we perceive in our lives for their own short gain..........or worse.

Having lived and worked in London (someone told me on this site the well known phase when you grow tired of London you grow tired of life).the reason i left was i was held up twice once by a machette wielding person and another by a gang of knife wielding people.i also had a bloke threaten me with a knife while standing at a bus stop for nothing more than waiting for a bus, then moved to Essex was held up with a gun by two white lads (notice i mentioned the colour this time as colour only mentioned when whitey done it)anyway the moral of the story is don't visit a betting shop that i was managing.

there are three distinct groups in this country who plod try to avoid as much as possible because of 1. getting injured(our local police wouldn't come out to an 'incident' 'as an officer got hurt last time' - I quote the police response on the phone.
". 2. accusations of racism and not backed up by their seniors who are more intent on promoting nice nail varnish and arresting pensioners for protecting themselves. Many plod are almost defenceless in the face of the sh!t that their bosses promote. We have it daily in town - the number of duff notes being passed by one group is amazing. That's the wheeled ones. Not the knives gangs or drug gangs. Why go and arrest any of this lot only to be thoroughly gone over protocol by the seniors and/or be attacked and defend yourself only to be accused of excessive violence or racism.
