No surprise. Badly run company, quality control on their guitars has been a big problem for years - it was like they just didn't care anymore, at least not where mass production instruments were concerned.

Saw a vid of theirs a few weeks ago of a new guitar. Similar to a destroyer but had all kinds of nonsense going on within it. Just looked a terrible idea.

Apparently, a result of poor management.  Several of the directors are now barred.

All that's left is for the insolvency practitioners to pick through the bones.

Not sure why so many people are strung up about it, a simple bridge loan should suffice.

All very inventive but they could still be saved....

Might have to be some strings attached though!

They should have got someone from another firm to marshall those directors.

Couldn't do that, as the reverberations would affect the whole of the industry!

They've been living off the brand name and churning out junk for years now. Problem for them was the market for higher end guitars wasn't there any longer and trying to compete with the Japanese and Chinese guitar makers with a US wage bill for mid range and lower end stuff was always going to be a non starter. They've just cut so many corners to save money that the quality control on their recent guitars has been poor since the early 2000's, innovation like robot tuners were never going to appeal to many guitar players at those prices. A mate of mine has just bought one of their overpriced tributes which are basically studios, poor finishing all over.

I read it wasn't really the music part that was dragging them under, they bought the philips consumer electronics division etc (didn't know about that).

NME has gone as well

If only Will Smith was Prime Minister, the government would have stepped in with a rescue package.

We'd have had an NME of the State.
