Good link again Makybe_Diva.Compelling stuff from Dr Mcdougall, and all backed where appropriate by a list of studies at the bottom. The amazing part is they don't teach hardly any of that in medical college according to the doctors online.
It was yourself and Denzil that put me into Dr McDougall's website. I haven't looked at all of it. I'm still reading his Starch Solution book. I'm coming round to his way of thinking.
I returned home from town earlier and Mr Makybe's first words weren't... " Hello darling, have you had a nice time? Did you buy anything nice?"
No, what he said was... "Don't get buying any of that f*****g cheese again, it's gross!"
He'd actually been told not to open the cheese. He doesn't listen to a word I say.
Anyway, I tried some and it isn't gross. It tastes slightly of Edam, but doesn't really taste much of anything at all.
I think it will be fine on toast with some black pepper on it. I liked it. It's Violife FYI.
So onto lunch, where I made hot dogs with Linda McCartney sausages.
They were lovely! Even Mr Makybe liked them.
They are very low calorie, too, compared to normal sausages (which I never buy anyway).
It will be hot dogs every Saturday for lunch from now on.
Thanks for the recommendation, Dr Crippen

You'll be testing your will power MD
It certainly will be, with all that lot in the house.
I've just eaten the Milionaire shortbread bites
They were very nice
I'm amost always doing the 6/18 fast.
So there's not a lot of damage I can do when only eating in a six hour window.
Nothing for me now until 12.30 tomorrow.

Thanks, Denzil. You've just reminded me that I have a small tin of red kidney beans in chilli sauce, in the cupboard.
I don't know why I bought them because I don't care much for chilli.
I'll have them with a baked potato on Friday

Glancing through a mail order catalogue that came through the post some trousers caught my eye.Looking at the sizes I noticed that the smallest waist measurement in all the ones I looked at was 32''. So the cheap end of the tailoring market for middle aged people has stopped catering for people who aren't fat?Looks like it to me. The new normal is now to be overweight.
In the town where I live it's very common that 32" waist is the smallest size. One shop sometimes has 31" in some models. My size is 30"
So I have to order my trousers on the internet (the 21st century version of mail order). My BMI is 18.75, which is supposed to be "normal", but it's very rare among middle aged men in the western world. A BMI of 40+ is more common, which is "very severly obese"
BMI 18.5-20 "normal" healthy weight, but in some parts of the world so rare that you might have a hard time finding trousers that fit you
BMI 20-25 normal healthy weight, and you'll probably not have too much trouble finding trousers that fit you
BMI 25-40 finding trousers that fit you should be very easy
(I'm pretty much built like a marathon runner.)
