Wonderful for the participants and their family but a total yawn for the general public unless you work for the BBC who big it up out of all proportion.Similar to Sky and that unmitigated bore F1.

Comparing watching the Olympics or World Championships and then the Commonwealth games is like every January watching the PDC darts then watching the BDO.

best thing so far has been Chris Hoy's obvious irritation with Becky Adlington's dizzy blond routine

To set the record straight. In the 9.25 Sky News sports section, the Commonwealth Games got a look in, after the Golf and Footie, but before the F1.

Anything which elevates the rug muncher to our TV screens HAS to be an immediate turn off.

So many 'thin' events , with stars not turning up and few nations being competitive.
Considering I was hooked on Athletics as a kid in 1974 as Filbert Bayi beat John Walker , Ben Jipcho , Big Bren and many others in the Christchurch Commonwealth games breaking the world record in the greatest athletics race I have ever seen. The Sevens should be good as it suffers little from missing nations . |

It is like watching the EPL. Its **** but they hype fools the majority.

I've been watching some of the Squash on the red button.....thank God the Egyptians aren't in the Commonwealth !

By:
bbc only hype it as they haven't got any proper live sport anymore. just cover events no-one normal cares about. only get big gigs as protected eg world cup, olympics.

Biggest headline of the games. Tom Daley has pulled out of the diving with a hip injury.
![]() Probably time to retire and take up his lucrative offer from the Beeb as presenter/ panelist/celeb chef etc |

I keep hearing about an "11 year old Welsh table tennis player". Had a look and found she's Oriental. I'm sure she's a nice kid but don't start pretending that Wales has produced a table tennis prodigy.

Re Tom Daley, did he get a hip injury by having his hand on there too long?
|
|
By:
He is still doing the synchronised so however he hurt his hip, his synchro partner has to hurt it the same way

Sure I've just seen a bloke beating some wimmin on the news.
|
|

I have just seen that as well, saddo.
Caster Semenya probably could have given them a lap start - she strolled home. I think they are going to have to rethink entry to the women's sport, the current rules are not working. Also the women's weight lifting, there was a sigh of relief the woman retired through injury. |

By:
I think re: rules Annie, the IAAF and IOC have behaved just as the ICC behaved when the darling of an entire continent was clearly chucking the ball. They have simply moved the goalposts to allow them to carry on.

By:
Pointless proper women competing against this person imo.
|
|
By:
Caster has undescended testicles and registers a testoterone level of a male

testosterone* dear me

Good luck to it, but shouldn't be allowed to compete against women and must be causing huge embarrassment to the people running the sport.

It's been a huge debate for years she deliberately doesn't try to break the world record.
I posted the records for the 800m a while back and she is 8th of all time despite technically being a man ![]() The lad who has the record is below https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=jarmila+kratochv%C3%ADlov%C3%A1&client=firefox-b&dcr=0&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwihwbTDq7DaAhXhKsAKHXugAMcQ_AUICigB&biw=1095&bih=694#imgrc=c9CqGOJfcjxIqM: |

It's not right is it. Virtue signalling gone mad, taken away the rights of proper women.

Just been watching the ladies T35 100 metres, there is something seriously wrong with a classification
system thst allows one athlete to be so massively superior. |

Talking about Caster Semenya... In 1962 Filipino athlete Mona Sulaiman won the 100m, 200m and got bronze in the shot put in the Asian Games. She refused to have a gender test prior to the 1966 Asian Games so wasn't allowed to compete.
