Black people of our age are disenchanted with the third and fourth generation black kids. As was said on "Being Blacker" BBC2 documentary the youth of today have no respect for their elders, their culture or the colour of their skin. Same goes for me there's plenty of white scummy chavs. However I would say the decent youth of all colours outnumber the bad ones, sadly it's only the bad ones we hear about.

Would add it is fairly safe to assume cuts in policing hasn't helped, mind you it didn't stop four vans loads sitting outside a pub the Chelsea lads were drinking in on Sunday. Surely one van would do, given our age and state of our knees and lack of athleticism even if it had kicked off with Spurs it was never going to be a fast moving crime

Education starts in the home. It's not up to Govt to tell people not to carry a knife or a gun (unless one is fishing or a gamekeeper). It's Tottenham not Dartmoor...

They are too scared to address the real reason for the deaths, get to the core and solve it. But they wont, they will just throw money at it with more police and a firm statement.

as far as I know, the rise has coincided with the removal of stop and search due to a few black people getting the hump about being stopped and searched. but clearly the numbers of knives and guns has gone up since they removed this protocol in london. I say bring it back. start stopping and searching anyone who fits the bill of young and black without a job.

the police need to not give a sh*t about "racism" and tackle this because it is becoming a major epidemic now and it can be helped by removing weapons from the streets and locking up anyone found carrying a weapon. we've got enough police, now get to work chaps.

somebody has suggested a curfew. anyone under the age of 18 out after 9pm is told to go home or they are arrested. we need a major major government intervention to stop this. law is the only way to prevent this from happening

the police also need to focus on removing weapons from the street. stop and search is the start of that. use intelligence to locate guns and major knives. it should be the top priority in the country

We're past that point I fear; it might make them think twice but doubt it will stop them. Their mindset is of a different kind

a lot of them are too young to even consider getting caught and going to prison. they literally do not have the brain capacity to comprehend that they could get sent down for it, or even care about the consequences. they are uneducated

If the death penalty really worked the US would have a very low murder rate in the states that have it.

the death penalty is not a deterrent. people are illogical.

It might sound fair, but in practice some innocent people are found guilty, and if the US is anything to go by racks up huge legal bills.  I don't think it makes any difference either.  Would make a difference to calculated crimes like theft, but crimes like murder are generally driven by emotion.

Hank the states that have the death penalty show a lower murder rate than those that don't.
The figures were for the last 27 years. Starts of with a low %age difference and peaked at 40%+ although the difference has dipped in recent years to 20%+.

It is irrelevant. It is unlikely they will reintroduce the death penalty here.

it is absolutely retarded to think that by introducing the death penalty, crime will go down. a lot of these people don't care about their lives, that's why they kill others. it would deter about 0.1% of the population

I'd debate that BM; if it was brought back I do think the homicide rate would drop, maybe not heavily but it would be noticeable imo

Just under 10 years ago my wife did some charity work for a Christian charity.  What she did was visit lonely old people who either went to church or were unable to make it through health issues.  One of the men was a bloke with no legs in a nursing home, whom she sometimes took to church on a Sunday and who once she invited round to our house to watch the Champions League Final in 2009 iirc.  Had to listen to his bollox the whole game about how it's not like it was and what a player Jackie Milburn was.  Anyway not long after he confessed he had a terrible secret and she wouldn't like him if he told her.  Eventually he told her that he killed his wife or girlfriend and tried to commit suicide by lying on a train track, which was how he lost his legs.  My wife was a little bit angry that she was never told and never saw him again. 

At the time the death penalty was in force, but he was spared it because he'd lost his legs.  She googled his name after he told her to check he wasn't making it all up and there were details of him and his murder on the internet.

I remember the court case for that ...

The prosecution lawyer said "He doesn't have a leg to stand on"

Theres a video of the Innocent Girl ( Supposedly her )doing the rounds of her getting into a fight in a club trying to protect her boyfriend from some gang members, its very violent . These people are a different speices to my kids, my family and my friends and we were all bought up on  council estates in London in the 1970/80s, we never had much money, we wanted to leave school as soon as possible, so we could go to work, better ourselves and do better than our parents, and thankfully most of us did, we never thought about thieving, just being repectful, working hard and earning money...
