I see on the Daily Politics today Richard Burton of the Shadow cabinet unable or more likely unwilling to criticise Hammas regarding the demonstrations/attacks on the Israeli border. If you have a large group attack your border saying that if they breach the border they will "RIP the hearts out of Israeli citizens" what is the army supposed to do ?

Firstly, assess how likely it is that they would achieve that. For example, how equipped are they? Do they have helicopters, tanks, missiles, assault rifles or is it a bunch of teenagers with some stones and tennis racquets. Secondly, just stop them getting through. As long as they're not in tanks then you have a range of options available. If you choose to employ snipers to shoot kids who are half a mile from the fence then don't be shocked if some people call it cold blooded murder. |

Are you by any chance an army person? because this is the kind of logic I'd expect from a brainless soldier. Israel's war can be won very easily. They choose not to win it for a reason. |

Are not children killed when towns and cities are bombed? Are we therefore not all Nazis?
Were not children and babies beheaded by knife wielding Jihadis in Iraq and Syria in recent times? Would the Palestinians not do the same if they overran an Israeli settlement? I am not condoning this but if children are deliberately brought into a conflict zone in the hope of using them to gain a tactical advantage, where does the responsibility lie? |

Children should not be brought into those areas but the responsibility lies with those pulling the trigger with snipers rifles. Would you shoot a child? Even if ordered to do so? Somehow I don't think so. I think the Palestinians should not put themselves in front of Israeli guns. They need to find better ways of defeating this Apartheid state. I would start with a request for all decent countries to support a trade boycott. Killing innocent people is not the answer for the Palestinians either. |

Why is it `apartheid`, please? It`s the only Middle Eastern state that allows Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Political Association, Sexual Equality, same-sex partnerships, etc, etc. It`s actually a world leaser in such issues, without the slightest hint of apartheid to be seen.
