Apologies if this has been done before and we’ll all have our own preferences but I’m going to throw these two into the mix:

John Mayer - Where the light is

Goo Goo Dolls - Live in Buffalo

Live 1969 - Velvet Underground

"Is this the long-lost Greatest Album Ever Made?" asked Paul Morley in the NME in March 1979.

Very possibly, if only for the moment in Rock And Roll when Doug Yule briefly turns his bass up to 11 for a startling, 5-second riff.

Don't know the album or the riff, but f*ck yeah that's what it's all about.

Definitely giving that a listen.

Live 1969 is almost unique among live albums, in that half the tracks on it hadn't been recorded in the studio at the time they were performing those gigs. So it didn't fall into the trap which most other live albums do, of just being a second-rate attempt to sound like the studio version of the songs.

And with John Cale and Nico having departed, the rest of the tracks are so different, they might as well be new songs anyway.

The studio version of What Goes On, for instance, is almost the perfect 4/4 beat, melodic pop song. On Live 1969 it becomes an unstoppable, headlong, motorik thrash, years ahead of its time. Anyone who's heard this, and has access to a guitar, and not felt the urge to thrash those four chords for a minimum of ten minutes the way Lou Reed does here simply has no soul.

Another vote for Lizzy here.

I haven't listened to it in about 30 years (moved out of home and it went missing , vinyl as well ) but the cowboy song and still in love with you are in my head like I had just heard it yesterday.

Im going to buy it the weekend now.

I had forgotten it tbh.

That live version of Highway Star would be my number-one air-guitar track of all time (also number-one air-keyboard track, for Jon Lord's intro).
