The company at the centre of the Facebook data breach boasted of using honey traps, fake news campaigns and operations with ex-spies to swing election campaigns around the world, a new investigation reveals.

Executives from Cambridge Analytica spoke to undercover reporters from Channel 4 News about the dark arts used by the company to help clients, which included entrapping rival candidates in fake bribery stings and hiring prostitutes to seduce them.

In one exchange, the company chief executive, Alexander Nix, is recorded telling reporters: “It sounds a dreadful thing to say, but these are things that don’t necessarily need to be true as long as they’re believed.”

The Channel 4 News investigation, broadcast on Monday, comes two days after the Observer reported Cambridge Analytica had unauthorised access to tens of millions of Facebook profiles in one of the social media company’s biggest data breaches.

Don't get it. Does this mean Russia weren't behind the USA rigging after all? or are they behind it under the this umbrella?

CA gathered the info and data at the behest of Steve Bannon. Who then had the facilities & manpower required to use it to
effectively target those groups and individuals?
Slight problem the CA execs have is that they have openly boasted about their methods. Russia may have been brazen but they
were at least smart enough to deny it.

The bollocks coming out from the history rewriting left on this is incredible.
The likes of facebook and google put huge efforts into targetting adverts and campaigns to people and they make no attempt to hide it.
The use of data analysis to work out who wants to vote which way was pioneered by OBAMA and was a big thing at the time, it's like the Guardian and Channel 4 are trying to pretend it didn't happen but they even wrote about it!
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2012/nov/07/obama-campaign-team-data-ohio
"Ground operation in swing states helped deliver victory for the president – and should serve as the model for elections to come"
"That faith in bottom-up organising was combined this year with a massive digital database to produce a campaign that was simultaneously hyper-localised and rigorously centralised. At the beating heart of the operation was a gargantuan database of information on millions of voters including their past voting records, their occupation and income, housing status, family connections and interests. That was linked digitally by a customised tool kit called Dashboard, developed for this election cycle, that allowed volunteers to interract with the database as they were knocking on voters' doors."

Another one.
https://www.technologyreview.com/s/509026/how-obamas-team-used-big-data-to-rally-voters/
Read this carefully:
"After the voters returned Obama to office for a second term, his campaign became celebrated for its use of technology—much of it developed by an unusual team of coders and engineers—that redefined how individuals could use the Web, social media, and smartphones to participate in the political process. A mobile app allowed a canvasser to download and return walk sheets without ever entering a campaign office; a Web platform called Dashboard gamified volunteer activity by ranking the most active supporters; and “targeted sharing” protocols mined an Obama backer’s Facebook network in search of friends the campaign wanted to register, mobilize, or persuade."

That was from 2012, and it was totally fine when the obama campaign did it. Don't expect Channel 4 news or the BBC to mention it when they are trying to make Trump's win seem like cheating.

Seems to me like the 'establishment' still can't accept the results of the people especially in the US.
In what was the most one sided bent media campaign of all time (which is still going on now) and after spending nearly $800 million dollars Clinton still didn't get in despite being let off with various National Security and treasonous crimes along the way.

Now the 'establishment' will be telling us that the interference on Facebook is the reason for Brexit which seems contradictory to me given that only 'old white racists' voted for Brexit.
How many of them get their news and info from Facebook?

If Cambridge Analytica are doing it, everyone is doing it. If someone isn't, it's about time they get started. I'll be suprised if top intelligence agencies in the world don't have a database with people being profiled on their browsing habits.

What is their connection to facebook by the way? Did they simply use facebook as a tool or are working for facebook?
