... on Absolute radio whilst out driving.

What a tune!!!!   Hadn't heard it for years.

Gotta feel sorry for today's youth. What the flick have they got?

That's how he spoke, that's how he sings
you see the way men sing now with their soppy voices and fake emotion makes me want to vomit
Weller could sing a love song too, English rose , but that was real emotion

Its hard to believe England produced groups like that, seems so long ago
only England could have produced such a group, nowhere else

My friend toured with Weller a few times not that long go. He is often very rude and rather unpleasant these days. Fame gets to em all.

This is a B side, Ed Sheerin would have had a No1 with it.

Liza Radley, see the girl with long hair
See her creeping 'cross summer lawns at midnight
And all the people in the town where we live say she's not quite right
She don't fit in with a small town
They just can't understand why she's doesn't stay in hospital
In a darkened room it's for their lives only she cries
Liza Radley, see her jump through loneliness
Liza Radley, take me when you go
And as the people pass by, their heads in the air
On to with their life's, she records a lonely sigh,
But no matter what they say, in her mind she knows,
Their dream of life they won't never find
And all the people in the town where we live say she's not quite right
She don't fit in with a small town
They just can't understand she's doesn't stay in hospital
In a darkened room it's for their lives only she cries.
Liza Radley, I pledge myself to you alone.
But she kissed my face and said Love means nothing at all
She kissed my face and said Life means nothing at all

It was appreciated at the time Johhny but the charts aren't everything.

Don't know where Anarchy in the UK went to in the charts but it is still electric to me. The early Jam stuff was not hitting the charts big from memory but there was a strong contingent of people listening to it. I still have Eton Rifles on vinyl oh and Peaches / Go buddy go, kwality!

To be fair the Jam were much better musically later on but the rawness was what got us going

It was pretty good but I thought Ghost Town caught the zeitgeist.

I think woundedknee must be 14 years old because the 70's were rough! London seems pretty safe to me. What part of South London's mean streets do you frequent wounded knee?

Call BS on that.. 70s 80s much more likely to get mugged or a smack in the mouth for no reason... imo.

I agree with Emitdeb ... I personally feel safer on the streets nowadays.

I am in my mid fifties now and maybe kids attack other kids. So maybe that's the reason. Nobody bothers an old clunt like me

Indeed, people very regularly got beaten up, for their preferred taste in music.
Even, relatively close musically bands.

♫♫♫ Saturday's boys live life with insults,
Drink lots of beer and wait for half time results,
Afternoon tea in the light-a-bite - chat up the girls - they dig it!
Saturday's girls work in Tesco's and Woolworths,
Wear cheap perfume 'cause its all they can afford,
Go to discos they drink Babycham talk to Jan - in bingo accents.
Saturdays kids play one arm bandits,
they never win but that's not the point is it,
Dip in silver paper when their pints go flat,
How about that - far out!
