Mortgage Free 30 year olds

I know plenty of 30 y/o (ish) who can't get on the property ladder, but could afford the mortgage repayments. I don't know any who are mortgage free at that age, especially through their parents funding it. This is in the Midlands where it's relatively cheap compared to some places.

I got some money when my parents died, but I was already mortgage free. My daughter is desperate for a house and I will help her get one. If I wait, and need care, she'll get nowt. I might as well help her now.

As long as you don't mean 'care home' saddo you might as well be dead

Every day I pass at least 1 care home if I go out and think exactly the same thoughts.
I've never been the same since I saw a documentary about care home abuse

Its abuse being in them Regardless of the care being Given , with an ever increasing aging Population the world is left with a massive Problem WTF do we do with them ?

An awful lot of People sitting around don't know who they are yet alone family members ,Spending billions keeping these people

This might sound callous ,but going forward it may well become reality .

We really don,t want to End up in Logans Run territory where the population and the consumption of resources are maintained in equilibrium by killing everyone who reaches the age of 30.   I would set it at 85 Myself

Saying that in 28 years I may have a Different opinion " being sound of Mind "

Imagine 'being sound of mind' living with an illness or unable to care for yourself or both very scary
I don't believe families do enough to help their aged relatives we are as a society so selfish and up our own arses imo.
As far as care homes go NHS homes are like a conveyor belt of death.
I was told this firstly by a senior nurse when I had back issues and told her about my lifestyle,she made the point those in the homes are kept sitting down as much as possible to speed up death.
My brother used to be an Area manager in the NHS and at one point had something to do with care homes and confirmed that the M.O was very different between private and public homes.
Private was about preserving and enriching life and public was about ending life
Obviously money is a big factor here but living in misery with no dignity waiting to die isn't how I hope my future turns out.

Perhaps one day, when we have divested ourselves of the pernicious influence of religion and its accompanying morality, we may be able to have a grown-up conversation about such matters.

we can't put our parents into care homes and then complain that they're being mistreated. they shouldn't be casted off by the families in the first place. it's a cultural and societal problem in the uk. in the mediterreanean grandparents are revered and stay part of the family.

it's a typical british response. 'somebody else can deal with it'. it's f*d up.

care homes are basically prison for old people. if you put your parents into a care home you're basically putting them in prison.

Often it's just not feasible to look after an aged parent at home. Someone with advanced dementia and incontinence and immobility is just too much for children to handle. Consider that the "children" of these people are in their 60s themselves and not physically able to handle the demands of the job. No one likes to put their Mum or Dad in a home (or at least decent folk) but it's often the only option.

Kamikazee is spot on , the care of people in that condition is a 24 hour operation , Most people have to work etc ,you cannot be sitting round all day looking after someone, the care of some people with dementia is the same as looking after a young child .

who has to work ?
how many really serious cases are we talking about and for what lenghth of time, a couple of years more

If they need help financially the state can help, they deserve it

leave old people alone in their own houses if possible with plenty of alcohol and the radio and a few books
That's a lovely way to be.
That's how I live now but im just practicing,im not old yet certainly not

anything else is too frightening a prospect
