While I disagree with your position it's your opinion to which you are entitled but please there is no need to insult those who have a different opinion to yours.

Rather than show support for the government aka he tried to score political points which obviously outraged the Tories but also many of his back benchers. The many decent Labour MP's that are still in the party, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't renew a move against him after today's performance Cool

it is strange though

I am a lefty but I don't recognise much of the 'socialist' about most of the many 'progressives'  with the strange 'I hate my country'  part of it can be laid at the foot of the eu project which is trying to destroy any idea of nations.
Remember many of them were born into or have grown up under the umbrella of the eu.
An irony about this is the Eu itself has attempted to expand eastwards and caused a localised war with russia.
Talk about a warlike attitude.

OH WHAT AN APPROPRIATE COLOUR for tonight's discussion.

Of course russians have good cause to mistrust the west - anyone come across this Hilter bloke??

Or the 1918 invasions of russia we participated in

Slightly off topic, but I agree. You leftish credential come from witnessing class discrimination and wanting to address it, and you would have at the same time had a feeling of care and support to your home country. That is just being patriotic and nothing wrong with that.

There have been two changes since. Firstly, the rise of identity politics which seemed to have been taken on by leftish intellectuals from sometime in the 1960s but I only started experiencing in the 1980s - maybe I was too young beforehand to appreciate it. That coupled with the EU agenda over the course of the last 30 years in dismantling borders in people's perceptions. This is a generalisation but your average socialist in the modern era would tend to be less nationalistic than your average capitalist.

Hope I have explained myself. I am not an intellectual!!! Wouldn't be in the second wave of executions come the revolution.

I would add that I first started seeing these ‘I hate my country’ types in London in the mid-80s. If anyone else here ever worked in the public sector in one of the larger urban areas of the country, I am sure they would understand what I am saying.

If you only ever worked in the private sector, you would have been shielded from all this. It seems to have grown now out to larger society. BBC, dramas, Leave/Remain, Corbyn/Anti Corbyn. Political Correctness.

spreadsheet wants to be compared to tigger.....

Tigger's personality and his assessment of his own abilities, which he always overestimates. He is cheerful, outgoing, competitive in a friendly way, and has complete confidence in himself. Some of the things which he claims Tiggers can do in the chapter "In which it is shown That Tiggers don't climb trees" include flying, jumping farther than a kangaroo, swimming, and climbing trees. He never actually attempts any of the first three things in the course of the story, but he does try to climb a tree. He only succeeds half-way, being able to climb up but not to climb down again.

......same old tories

Of course this will be bad news for you and your friends anxious who are always wanting the worst for the UK.
By:

Tigger's personality in the cartoons is much like his personality in the book. He is very confident and has quite an ego, he often thinks of himself as being handsome, and some of his other comments suggest he has a high opinion of himself. Tigger is always filled with great energy and optimism, and though always well-meaning, he can also be mischievous, and his actions have sometimes led to chaos and trouble for himself and his friends.

like the time he raised national insurance for self employedLaugh

Also, he often undertakes tasks with gusto, only to later realize they were not as easy as he had originally imagined

Great news for the economy LaughLaughLaughLaugh

Light at the end of a tunnel they denied we were in for years!

Why on earth would you suppose ANYONE wants the worst for the UK, akabula?
Even in your wildest meanderings, you can't think that. Which makes it a bit of a silly thing to write.

Enjoyed his speech today. Shows that the Tories have got it right.
Although tbf I might be talking out of my pocket given that they have put an extra £1k a year into it by raising the tax threshold year after year.
