Too many older people who voted for Brexit were "driven by nostalgia" for a world where "faces were white," Sir Vince Cable has said.
The Lib Dem leader said the votes of the older generation had "crushed the hopes and aspirations of young people for years to come."
The Lib Dem leader went to say too many older voters were driven by "nostalgia for a world where passports were blue, faces were white and the map was coloured imperial pink".
He also took a swipe at his own party's lack of diversity - it has had a lower proportion of non-white MPs and candidates than Labour or the Conservatives in recent years.
"Looking around the auditorium, we are very, very white," he told the party faithful.

Er, what to say???!! Is being white wrong? Clearly it is.. I sincerely apologise Sir Vince. It won't happen again.

That's because he's in the UK - a collection of white nations. If he wants to see more brown faces then go be a politician in Africa. What awful things must he think of Iceland, where 94% of the population are Icelandic and the rest are mostly Nordic or traditional European?

My preference is some sort of Crowdfunded action could be initiated, ideally by unhappy white Liberal Party members. They could buy the disgraced Cable a farm in South Africa, so he could quickly learn what it's like to be white and a farm owner there.

Well said Lybertine. Disgusting comments from a British politician. Cable should face an immediate vote of no confidence. No chance of that, of course.

That's exactly the conclusion I came to reading that post Injera. Cable virtue signalling at others expense whilst trying to make himself relevant. No better than Abbotts comments that those who voted leave are racists.

Did nobody in the room have the balls to take him to task over these despicable comments? A white person should have stood up and said "what about me. Am I not welcome?"

I suspect many of the black people in the room weren't too happy about Cable's comments either. Idiots like Cable are always keen to play the race card to score cheap points. Abbott is another one. I consider them to be the racists. Ordinary folks just see people as people.

White shaming is a worry. Replacement theory. It's demonic.
alun mentions SA. Look how quiet our media is regarding the white farmers' plight. I wouldn't be surprised if Corbyn and Cable have pictures of Zouma and Mugabe on their mantlepiece.
'Shoot the Boer' Zouma sang at a political rally. And they do..well, they rape them first.
https://youtu.be/4NVkRmBTB7k - his solo version. 'Shoot them with machine guns'.

And yet all of these politicians live in rural areas where its 99% white. They are pretty thick for people who are supposedly in intelligent powerful positions aren't they? why do we vote for these idiots again? wouldn't it be better to just run our own lives?

I once saw Morgan Freeman own a lefty interviewer who referred to him as an "African American."
"I'm not an African American" Freeman chastised him, "I'm just American."

I wonder if Diane Abbott is outraged there's no whites playing for the West Indies cricket team?
And don't get me started in the African Nations Cup
This diversity thing only works one way dunnit?

Getting applause for his comments. And his 'voting to be poorer' comment is an insult to everyone who voted to leave.

Agree, but.
He's clearly after Labour's black voters. What else could he be up to? You can't possibly think he's sincere, he's a politician.

You only have to look at the many, many posts referring to bulldog spirit, how Britain beat Germany in 1945 (and can do so again), the whole anti-immigrant sentiment that was encapsulated not in arguments about white Eastern Europeans but in Farage standing in front of a billboard of Arabic refugees and in a general unacceptance of Britain's place in the 21st century globe.
I know it may be unpallatable to some but he's right. A whole load of people had these ideas in their noggins when they were considering their vote and since.

it is bad enough with so called parliamentary democracy in the uk
hope this helps

Why is it so wrong to have pale skin? It's down to a lack of strong sunshine in the UK, that's all. There's nothing racist about it unless you want to call nature racist.

See, I like MPs being contrary and saying things that "the general public" don't like.
That's their job. We elect them on the basis that we think they're well equipped, can judge issues well and make the right decision. I don't want a politician who'll bend like a reed in the wind to whatever is currently seen as popular.
Our politicians should show the backbone to stand up and say things even if they think some people disagree. It's about convictions. It's about morality. It's about backbone.
The whole "this MP should be pro/anti brexit because that's how his constituency voted" is utter tripe that needs to be nailed. We live in a representative democracy where we employ these people to be - gulp - experts and to use their wisdom, learning and insight to reach decisions that most of us may not have seen.
Give me a politician who says something that he means but I disagree with over some muppet who says "the right thing" but whose heart isn't in it.

See flush I have some respect for Farage. He's as duplicitous and mendacious as they come but he's always been clear about wanting to leave the EU. Rather that than Johnson's opportunistic Damascene conversion or May's muddled politicking.
On this issue at least he's straight in his intentions even if maybe not in how he goes about convincing others to his cause.

I think pan called all of us racist, betfair did the correct thing or he could had ended up in court. Im waiting for someone to call me something that i am not then i will seeing them in court. We all can argue our points but when something is untrue then action needs to happen.
Vince as a remainer used the stats to convince himself that the brainwashed youth were correct and that elder people are racist with no idea or experience in the globalist world. I call them wiser.

The last couple of years I find it amazing to think I used to be a Lib Dem. I just don't recognise them as the same party anymore. I don't think I've changed that much, they seem to have embraced their inner snowflake and drifted off into the ****osphere. Pretty much everything they say is twatty.

He sounds like one of those Momentum types, stomping his feet and having a hissy fit when things aren't going too well for them. And what is it with these lefties and personal abuse? It always seems to be their first resort, a sign of low intelligence you would imagine.

If you're letting off steam because your mum is unwell I think we can all cut you some slack over that, Pan07. I certainly wouldn't have had a pop at you if I knew that was the case. Nobody wishes bad health on anyone, but getting in an argument on here and threatening people with violence will just make you feel worse IMO.

Yeah, I knew that, Aka, he's only just said something's up with his mum in the last couple of posts. If that's the case I think we all sympathise with the bloke. Probably best to just leave him alone.
