Why do people say the good die young?

Given the age demographics of the chit-chat forum, I think it proves that it is demonstrably probably true.

People go all weird around death.  Any death that happens to get reported in a news medium reveals that the deceased was the best ever most fabulous gee-whizz honest and philanthropic person who had ever lived and who ever will live.  Any criminal misdemeanours are merely a consequence of them being a fun-loving cheeky chappy.

I'm not sure people used to say it until this record came out.
