I reckon he made a lot of much darker decisions

Like you would trust a libtard channel to give a unbiased account.

We all know Churchill had flaws, but who doesnt.

Well done everyone for not mentioning Corbyn yet.

Churchill was not a nice man, he made some lucky decisions, some good decisions and some very bad ones.
The adulation for him is heavily misplaced and always has been.

If it's true that Germany continued to offer peace terms to the UK, even after the fall of France.
Then we have been lied to for decades

I dont think Corbyn was alive in around these times, so your post is stupid.

Love the experts on military decisions on chit chat, especially with hindsight.

1. I have been posting about Churchill and what he was like, for many years, when the subject comes up.... So wrong about the hindsight thing.
(unless you mean hindsight as after the war/before the war).

2. My post isn't stupid, someone usually mentions him on just about every thread and you already got a quick "libtard" in, but stopped a fraction short of "leftie".
Not only that, but it wasn't a serious comment.
Shows a distinct lack of understanding of levity.

But i knew when i inserted the term libtard someone would be triggered, you were odds on but dave was very short then 33/1 bar. Welcome to the net. Excited

Hindsight, Is a wonderful thing. I'm just upset that you could not had led us during the 2nd world war.

There's nothing clever about fishing.
It's even less clever to claim fishing when you weren't, a poor use of hindsight.
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 4, 2018 10:30 PM GMT
Your poor use of hindsight seems to have no end.

I was 100% fishing when using the libtard term to see who would be triggered, their are a few on hear that react to certain words, you are one of them.

Yeah I agree Churchill wasn't a nice man unlike that lovely Mr Hitler ffs Crazy
Report mad mad moon March 4, 2018 11:21 PM GMT
The problem with Hitlers offers of peace, were, as Russia found out, just strategic.
As Chamberlain found out, Herr Hitlertold lots of fibs.

On sinking the French fleet, what was the alternative? We could not let it fall into the Nazis' hands, and the French had been given an ultimatum to surrender, which was ignored.

Lied to for decades? Go and see the film The Darkest Hour, which picked up a handful of Oscars last night. It is about the decision to fight on rather than make peace with Germany after the fall of France, which was the preferred option of the Foreign Secretary and other Cabinet ministers.

As someone said, Churchill was wrong about a great many things, but about the one thing that really mattered, he was right.

And they were not talking about Churchill giving British workers the right to a paid tea-break at work, though that was good too.

So Churchill chose war not peace....

How come he is not vilified and blamed for his decision leading to the deaths of millions

Millions would have died anyway as the Soviets and Nazis slogged it out and the Holocaust continued. You will note also that, as @mad mad moon reminds us, the Nazis and Soviets made a pact until Hitler broke it.

And if Britain had not fought on, the Americans could not have taken part in the liberation of Europe so the war would have ended with the whole of Europe crushed under Nazi or Soviet tyranny. That's why Churchill's greatness is celebrated.

Modern fascists don't like Churchill any more than the original ones, so of course they're going to want to tarnish his name.
