It would be cheaper for the Home Office to buy a timeshare for the last two weeks in
February, and pre book some Ryanair flights in August.

Fortunes to be made out of the overtime and expenses. With a suntan thrown it.
People getting shot and stabbed every day in the stan, and we waste money sending plod on a wild ghost chase in Portugal.
imagine after all this money and time if plod turned up something which should have been flagged up within days, hours ,that thought alone tells me they wont be looking to hard
Yes 1tp, they'd be cutting their own throats if they found anything now.
Think of the other hundreds of kids that have gone missing since this lot started. How much has been spent investigating them?
This whole issue and the money spent on it stinks to high heaven.

Won't find anything.
Because if they did they couldn't again go next year.
We're all going on a summer holiday
No more working for a week or two
Fun and laughter on our summer holiday
No more worries for me or you

Ben Needhams Mum was given £700k as a one-off payment last year towards her quest to find out what happened to her son.
No teams of detectives or government officials or anything else to help her. Something does stink here with the mccanns.

it is their duty to continue to try and solve this case, as with all other cases
It shouldn't mean they have to spend large sums of money or need large numbers of staff involved, just one or two officers from time to time and available backroom staff when required

of course it is the Spanish police who have failed British people , as is the case with most foreign countries
*Portuguese ,
its there and the police investigation there that is the scandal
its there and the police investigation there that is the scandal
No matter dreadful the crime these countries will not investigate their own people properly when a British person has been a victim
In some countries they will arrest and prosecute the innocent british tourist and leave their own free of prosecution
In some countries they will arrest and prosecute the innocent british tourist and leave their own free of prosecution
Of course the British people in their stupidity prefer to blame the British police for trying to do what the Portuguese should be doing, and prefer to blame the British parents (yes who made a terrible decision to leave the children) and imply worse
Maybe the Sweeney are like lfc and investigating in the wrong country
The Met are still looking for the burgler who murdered the Lucan nanny
In some countries they don't even bother to arrest and prosecute the innocent Brazilian tourist. They shoot the poor fecker in the head.
Some British people in their stupidity believe the Portuguese police are more to blame than the parents who left their 3 kids unattended while they went on the piss.

the Portuguese police did a good job with a group of British tourist who weren't very cooperative
well that's five ignorant posts in a row right there, go ahead A-T say something else and make it 6
As for Mike dHag, well i think he,s losing his marbles in his hatred of Britain

Well I thought we were in agreement!
someone had to ruin it didn't they!
I'm sure if they looked deep enough into The McCanns, they'd find the answer, however it seems they are untouchable at the moment, but maybe one day the truth will out.
You were the one who brought up the stupidity of the British, lfc. Do you hate them too?
I don't believe in any conspiracy theory regarding the disappearance of this poor girl.
The only thing that " appears " strange is the " omerta " of the touring group. Possibly a similar group of professionals some of whom may have also left their kids in rooms. It may have looked bad for them if the Press were not supportive. Most or all kept quiet. That looks bad but it is not an admission of any kind except perhaps neglect for their kids.
The McCanns have paid a terrible price. Their child is gone. They will continue to suffer and hurt for the rest of their lives.
I think There is an amount of anger because these middle class people with a beautiful wife and angelic looking daughter have got away with something...the neglect of their children. They haven't. They have paid the highest price possible, a sentence of the most awful kind.
I think if they were working class they would have been pillioried by the papers. This is where a lot of anger comes from I think. Can you imagine what Jeremy Kyle would have made of it!
Remember Diana was dead. The newspapers needed a new star and found one in the angelic face of Madeline. That face and any news sold papers and adverts.
The McCanns did whatever they could to take advantage of this. You can't blame them for that if it would help to find their child.
All this when hundreds of unknown children go missing every year and none of us know anything about them.
Yes it is a waste of tax payers money but I think there is also an anger from the British people about the unfairness of it.
It is a sad situation and some are taking advantage of it. That's life but we should say no more tax payer money.

There are so many interesting things around this case. The role of Clarence Mitchell, hired to be the press officer was unique.
He quit his £70k a year civil service job to work for the Mcann's. He oversaw the whole way the case was presented to the media. He had previously worked for the BBC.

K&G's 'embedded confessions' are what really made me think.
Apparently very common for the guilty to confess unintentioanlly during questioning.
For example, after 100 days of his daughter being missing, Gerry said 'everything we have done in the last 100 days has focused on the BELIEF that M was alive when she was abducted'. Gerry emphasised 'belief'.
Surely if you believe your daughter was taken (no body in the room/no evidence of violence etc), then her being alive at the time would be a given. The 'everything we have done' would surely be 'to find our daughter!'
One theory is that M was drugged with sleeping tablets by her parents (not uncommon for doctors to do this for their kids apparently), and tragically died in the room. Thus Gerry may have been unwittingly confessing that she wasn't alive when Kate went to the room.

There are many conspiracy theorists out there, that are just people jumping on the bandwagon,
However, there are many unanswered questions and there is a cover up without doubt imo, one is called TedsTalk on youtube.
If you've not seen it, just type in 'Tedstalk Maddy McCann'.Very interesting facial expressions by the McCanns when they answered questions on what happened. Personally, they should be done for child neglect at the very least, so why wasn't they ?.
Why is GM being protected ?, who by ? and why ?

An Old Question but had there been any Simular Crimes in the Surrounding Area prior to Maddie ?? If Not they are looking in the Wrong place , Chances of a Random
Local Pedo Striking Just this once are a Million , More Likely the Culprit was on the Resort Staying or Working ... But then they Probably know this

Is there much evidence of anything Tobes? Genuine q.
only solid evidence I ever heard
resident(granny) heard the kids crying for parents the night before

Seem to remember there was something about a cadaver dog and the hire car. Think Tobes might have mentioned it on an old thread.
yep and the dogs had a 100% strikerate previous to going to portugal didnt they
The problem with trying to analyse this case is that some of the evidence online isn't really evidence but someones manipulation of the facts.
Getting back to the point of the thread who is going to stand up and pull the plug on the spending? Who actually would be responsible for such a decision?

Ha! I KNEW this was about McCann and Portugal just from looking at the thread title!
