I can't see their appeal at all. They look aggressive, like graffiti. Why would you have permanent markings on your body? By the time people are 50+ they will look even more stupid.

On a woman...a major turn off, together with multiple piercings and smoking!
I seriously don't get what motivates people to have them....is this a multi national thing, or just another negative thing in which the Brits are world leaders?
Completely hideous and ugly imo!On a woman...a major turn off, together with multiple piercings and smoking!I seriously don't get what motivates people to have them....is this a multi national thing, or just another negativething in which the Brits a

None of the people I meet/see in the club/pub I go to have a tattoo, well not visible. I suppose some might have them covered. Whilst I dislike them I find piercings much more repugnant.

When I ask kids about them, and how they will look in their 50s, the general feeling is that by then, someone will have invented a painless, clean, removal system. If someone did invent that it would be more lucrative than Facebook imo.
And what's with them 1" diameter rings used to stretch the earlobes. They might as well have " My IQ is under 50" tattooed on their foreheads.

Tattoos are a no no for me too. The irony is that people have them to be 'individual'; yet they are the most conformist, sheep following act around today!
Most of them look like a toddlers playgroup has been let loose with a bunch of crayons and the 'artistic merit' of 99% of them is laughable.
A young person I can understand why they get them done as it's 'hip.' But the amount of middle aged mums getting them done in some vain attempt at being relevant is quite alarming.
Modern life: tattoos, social media, professional You Tubers, TOWIE & Big Brother. And they say Aborigines didn't evolve much above a sharpened stick after 2,000 years!

should we be allowing kids to have them in the first place is my question?

I think the term kid is relevant to yer own age. Some see a kid as 12ish or younger, some call teenagers kids. If the latter then 'allowing' doesn't come in to it.

None myself but when I lost one of my dogs whilst out on a walk, it was returned by a young fella with tattoos and a number of facial piercings. Refused my offer of a reward saying, just glad to see it reunited with it's owner. What the hell, live and let live.

When we were kids we used to sport fake tattoos. They were called transfers and lasted until you washed. Can you still get them? The novelty of having one soon wears off.
I know it's wrong, but I do tend to take a certain view of a person if they have a tattoo.

branding is for sheep, behehehhehehehehehhehehehhhhh
back in the day, tats were worn by bikers, heavy rock stars, roadies, and general hard nuts. I've no problem with that generation. But all the sheep now doing it because everyone else is doing it, the irony is hilarious.
tats on women are 90% just as bad and used to be a big turn off for me, until I saw one on a lady's thigh - I changed my mind all about location

When I was young you used to get them with chewing gum. Wet the transfer sheet and hold firmly in place. Dabs or something like that they were called. The most popular one was a skull and crossbones.

Dabetties. That's right Plat I remember it now. Skull and crossbones on the arm and a sweetie cig hanging out the side of the mouth. We were right hard looking in our primary schools in those days.

None here either, got 2 lads aged 38 and 40 who have none either, although their mates have plenty.
I had a mate who was in the navy for years who had an anchor 'tat' on his forearm with a scroll 'I DON'T MIND YOUR SKINNY LEGS I'M A SAILOR'
The only one I've ever liked, always made me chuckle for some reason.

My son has a few but gets away with it because he's a young good looking guy who's the lead singer in a band.
My 2 daughters don't have any that I'm aware of.
Worryingly my wife keeps banging on about getting one. Mid life crisis?
If she gets one, I may divorce her and join elitesingles.co.uk...if such a site exists.

Sheldon: Why do you have the Chinese character for "soup" tattooed on your right buttock? Penny: It's not "soup", it's "courage". Sheldon: No it isn't. But I suppose it does take courage to demonstrate that kind of commitment to soup.

Know loads of people who do, but its their life, so what am I to say.
One aspect I don't understand at all, is a black/blue tat, on someone with dark skin. Can't even see what it is properly. So what's the point !!

People with them on the back for instance, what's the point, if I bought a painting & hung it in my front room window for anyone walking past to see it but was obviously out of sight for me that would be stupid, wouldn't it

None. In my youth only criminals and seamen had tattoos. Mostly anchors and 'mum'. I guess we've got a lot more criminals these days, because we have a lot less seamen.
What you have to remember is tattoos and piercings violate your immune system. Particulates from tattoo ink will knock a couple of years off your life if you're a heavy user. I'm a doctor. Trust me.

Was having a look on the net for crazy tattoos. Seemingly quite a few have dotted lines on their throats with 'cut here' in the middle. That's beyond stupidity.

Do you remember when Stuart Pearce was the only footballer who had tattoo's? That's because he had a trade and is a punk rocker. I challenge anyone to find a photo of a footballer with visible tatts from the 90's. As already stated, it's Beckhams fault.
