Water (nap).

There’s an awful lot of money spent marketing sports and energy drinks as if they’re a vital, 'scientifically proven' component in any self-respecting athlete's track bag – but do you really need to guzzle bottles of coloured liquid to ensure you're maximising your performance?

Not really, according to a new study by researchers in the UK, which found that just stirring some table sugar into water is all that's necessary to stave off tiredness in endurance sports.

Red Thunder is my favourite, a brand from Aldi as well lol.

Never been a fan of Red Bull tbh, the taste isn't that great.

Monster is ok but if its a big can it has to be Relentless personally.

Never had an "energy" drink. What do they do? Don't bother with they give you energy. Would a cup of tea do?

You need fructose not sucrose to recharge your energy cells fast after exerting.

That's why they put it in energy drinks, just look on the label.

I don't have a label! Take the point but not in need of a quick recharge. Why do I see many people walking around town drinking them?
They're only walking. Students like them. Are they knackered from a lecture?

Don't think they are any good for you at all.

Ever since Freddie Flintoff gave up the booze he seems to have substituted cans of lager for cans of Redbull, maybe they have some sort of subliminal addictive quality ?

I find they dont do anything after a run tbh i just like the taste. But yeah they arent healthy at all i agree, esp if drunk to excess. One lad i knew bought a pack 4 to school and theyd gone by dinner, every day this aswell, couldnt have been good for him. I stick to 1 a day.

Marketed as a coffee/coke substitute for kids and the susceptible.
These drinks serve no purpose. But, it is a bit like a cheap way to get a buzz or "high" of some sort.
They are loaded with chemicals that are no good for you.

Any drink will hydrate, water is good, but anything will do. As for energy, why would we not have any within us to start with?

I don't recommend overdoing them and they can I'm sure be bad for you but to say they do nothing or serve no purpose is bollox.
They are far more potent than caffeine alone as they normally have Taurine in which makes the Caffeine more potent.
If you are taking them daily that's just stupid but having one or two if you are knackered they can really help.
But on a night out you might find you overdo it as they'll keep you going until kicking out time (and later, you may not be able to sleep) when without them you migh've been sensible and went home..

yes but he is right - it is a pile of rubbish poisoning your system - a very clever advertising campaign that has made masses of dosh -
it is being flogged as a beneficial 'food'  -   no wonder there is a problem with the fitness of the population if they suck this lot up with the rest of the food/drink industry's propaganda.

They are I'm sure incorrectly marketed and overused but they serve a purpose if used correctly.
They have an effect, that's a given. And that effect may be useful and positive in some situations.
Therefore there is a purpose and they may be used to the advantage and benefit of the consumer.

no the stuff does not serve any useful purpose - it is a marketing ploy/con on the basis of it being a beneficial food - it is full of sugar types and chemicals

Like coffee it is a little perk in the daily routine but when i see nearly every kid on their way to school with a can of it the in their hand is very disturbing. The only time you should need it is in the afternoon or evening when for some reason you feel tired, mainly down to being up all night on the internet or a games machine.

Cant blame the marketing people if they can get away with it.

The long term use of energy drinks isnt going to end well.

Proper sleep is the best answer.

That is bollox though. They do exactly what they say they do and give a burst of energy via the sugar and caffeine content.

Big difference between calling what someone writes bollix as opposed to calling them a plick. (I keep laughing at that).

Bloke in the local says it helps his shagging.
Apparently he rubd charly on his bell end then chugs a pint of red bull.
Then he fecks his lady friend.
No idea why any normal bloke would run a mile she has the looks of lennox lewis
and the personality of a rat.
