I finally got around to seeing it this week and as I thought I would it was a film that I enjoyed immensely and absolutely loved the performance by Frances McDormand as Mildred. I thought the ending actually really suited the film personally and I didn't feel in the slightest bit disappointed at all as to its conclusion. McDormand, as the market does suggest, looks an absolute given for the best actress Oscar. I'd give it a very solid 8.2/10 personally and would most definitely recommend it to anyone to make their own minds up.

Found this on dodgy box a few months ago. Quite like France's mcdormund so thought I would give it a go and really enjoyed it..quite dark and humourous in places, quite like a Cohen bros flick..8/10

I'm hoping to see The Shape Of Water over the weekend ISLL, I'll post my thoughts when I get around to seeing it.

I might be making assumptions about this film which I haven't seen but would like to.
Even better news-lots of nudity and sex And Sally has a butt!!! I am assuming Miss Dagenham is having the sex with the alien? Isn't that a bit like fceking a dog? No disrepec intentended? |

Watched it twice. (Three Billboards) Frigging Brilliant!!

By:
A1 quality on KODI... btw.

Watched it last night...8/10 but a goddam awful ending.A beginning,a middle and an END is a prerequisite for a film as far as i am concerned.

what is it with the end?
Do you know what you have for tea tomorrow evening? |

The Shape Of Water, dont bother slippy as it is the biggest pile of tosh i have ever seen,in fact i walked out after 50 minutes.
|
|
By:
I'll watch it at home acey, it's second favourite for best picture @ 2.88. not that that necessarily means it's a great film of course but I thought Three Billboards was very good indeed and that's a shade of odds against.

what is it with the end? Do you know what you have for tea tomorrow evening? When i watch a film i expect a satisfactory conclusion.Like many modern films i get the impression they just don't know how to finish them. Hunters chicken as you ask. |

"The Shape Of Water, dont bother slippy as it is the biggest pile of tosh i have ever seen,in fact i walked out after 50 minutes."
Haven't seen The Shape Of Water but my wife went to see it with her sister, wife said it was a beautiful film and loved it, sister said it was one of the most ridiculous films she's ever seen. |

Bit of a marmit job then! I'll try and watch it tonight if I get the time.

Well theres a surprise
The Shape of Water canters in Best PICTURE ![]() |

I went to see Three Billboards today with my wife who scored the film 8.5 while I thought it was nearer an 8 and well worth a watch for anyone who hasn't made up their mind yet. One minor quibble was Abbie Cornish who played the wife of Woody Harrelson's character who while pleasing on the eye
was extremely wooden with an accent that seemed to be all over the place. I have just googled her and found that she is an Australian rapper known as MC Dusk as well as an actress[ I think she should probably stick to music imo. |

Was about to have a huge bet on best picture but after reading about the probable reaction to the use of the N*****R word by white folk, held off. Don't think I've seen a better movie in the last 5 years... Agree with the Mrs Willoughby didnt really fit.
Shape of Water... tbh, couldnt see it through. Switched off after 1/3. Get Out... Just Awful. |
|
By:
I wasn't overly impressed with the ending at first, but after thinking about the movie the following day I changed my mind about it. As for the shape of water - didn't particularly appeal from the trailers, maybe catch it at some point. Emitdeb - I can see Get Out being a marmite movie.

Seen The Shape of Water. First of all, don't think the cat lovers on here will like it because of what happens to the cat.
Bit different to other films I've seen lately ! It was weird and strange. Sally Hawkins was quietly amazing. Won Best Picture and had a whooping 13 nominations. Surprised at that, wouldn't have said it was that good. But I stopped taking the Oscar awards seriously years ago ! If you take it for what it is, an adult fairy tale, a fantasy love story but not like Walt Disney, more like Grinding Nemo. It was good in a delightfully strange way. On a 5 Star Rating I'd give it 3/5. |

Well I finally got around to watching 'The Shape Of Water' tonight. It's difficult to know where to start in describing it but as a starter I'll rank it as a top 10 contender for the worst, most boring, inane film I've ever seen in my entire life. Complete and utter cinematic nonsense and to think it won best picture ahead of 'Three Billboards' quite frankly beggars belief and that's two hours of life gone that I'll never see again. I'll score it 0.5/10, if you haven't seen it yet then just don't bother, it's simply dire beyond words.

I couldn't agree more Slippy.......And to Win the Oscar for Best Film
....You couldn't make it up ffs. |

Oscars, are and have been about self indulgence and leftists promotions. That it is why Hollywood is about to end.
|
|
By:
Recent winners-The Artist, A Beautiful Mind,Birdman and The Shape of Water, all poor films issued around about the same time of year,
all very average to say the least, none particularly box office, and that's with out the PC winners. Whole thing is a charade voted by the luvvies themselves who as we all know live in cloud cuckoo land. |

Saw Three Billboards last night. I enjoyed it. Quite a tense black comedy. At times it didn't feel appropriate to smile because of the subject matter. But there were some good lines in it, some brilliant characters and I thought the ending was fine!
I didn't like the sheer amount of swearing which I thought was unnecessary and added little. Not sure about McDormand getting an Oscar. Didn't appear to be a difficult role to play: moody, aggressive, grieving Mum. Rockwell I think deserved his. He went from villain to hero in the film and I thought he was excellent. No characters were wasted - they were all interesting. 8/10 |
|
By:
I watched Three Billboards again this evening, I've upped my score from 8.2/10 to 9.0/10. It really is a very good film.
|
|
By:
I give it a 7. It was very well acted granted, but the swearing was gratuitous at times and there were several holes in the plot. My worst criticism, however, was that the film was just so damned depressing!
