All this money been spent looking for a planet that is the same as earth. And some day the sun will expand and burn us all. This is all bull, why not re orbit planet mars to a new orbit and we could have a spare planet.
Then we can turn it into a small second earth like planet.after all we have 4 billion years to do it.
and the betfair forumites always solve any problem they are asked ,so i think it would be much easier to re orbit planet earth and mars as a spare when we feel too  hot.  All we have to do is push earth back a few million thousand  miles. In fact a honda 50 engine would be strong enough to move a planet in space.
according to scientists we will be eating hamburgers on mars in 500 years time,so surely we can learn to re orbit a planet in the next 4 billion years.

in fact as we have 4 billion years before the sun starts to expand we could start next week moving earth back a few mile a week it would add up over 4 billion years, and if we get cold we can pull it forward a little.and once the sun starts to expand it will take another 2 billion years before it explodes so thats 6 billion years we have to save the mother earth.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin
I CAN SEE THE NEWSPAPERS NOW "BRASS SAVES MOTHER EARTH"

We could cement all the asteroids together to form a new planet. Such a contract might have saved Carillion. There's no imaginative thinking these days. (apart from Brassneck, of course).

Mars simply acts as a symbol to coerce the mases.
Its been used by politicians for decades and now even demi god sorts like elon use it to bamboozle the spending public into believing the private sector can get humans there.....while having fancy cars etc on sale too if anyone is interested.

The ASAP ruled on the 11 Jan that the Falcon 9 rocket isnt fit for humans to travel to the ISS, and soon the Delta Heavy will be tested that is only half the payload available that the public sector owned decades ago.....and guess what?
Thats right, the payload will be a Tesla car.....on sale now folks.

When we have destroyed this planet, we can spend countless trillions on making areas of Mars habitable in order to send a few dozens of people to start a new colony. The rest, 10 billion plus by then, will be left to die.

great idea Foinavon,we cold build a new planet, and with four billion years to think about it we can not fail.
And if a person let his imagination run wild he could come up with a state of the art planet that moves back from the expanding sun.heat shields if its too warm.
but scientists say "lets travel 10 trillion lights years across the universe at the speed of light and look for another planet to live."
why i ask when we have a planet if we could only look after it?.

The Irish built our canals and railways with picks and shovels, think how much more could be achieved with a celestial concrete mixer.
The scientists think that the asteroid belt is a failed planet but we know that it was destroyed by the Vogons to build an intergalactic highway which never materialised. Unlike Humpty Dumpty it can be put together again with the help of an army of navvies.

And if we park a shuttle bus in orbit ,we could have the first space bus ,all it would have to do would be to stay up in space like the space station, and we could get up to it in a wee shuttle taxi and the first world bus would be in action. We would not even have to travel, just let the planet turn and we could come back down when our destination is under us.all we would have to pay for is a space taxi up to the stationary bus.(which would have a pub in it )Laugh
Report brassneck • January 21, 2018 10:35 PM GMT
it would only take a few minutes to get up to the shuttle bus, wait  a half an hour and america would be under us and a half an hour to come back down.
how about that,we could be in america in an hour travelling forty miles up and forty miles down.
so the future is an 80 mile trip to america in one hour and we will deliver you in any area of america you wish to land in your space taxi.and of course alail of the duty free space shop if you are not in the space pub.Laugh

you see scientists dont think the whole plan out .IF we were to move to another planet light years away we would have to take a Noah's ark with us.on the first flight we would need 2 jockeys and 2 horses so that if the people were fed up they could watch the horse race once a week.we would need a bookie as well.
i am sure a lot of the punters would select the loser of the race ,and when the two horse race is run every week a guy could make money when he knows the form of the horses inside out.so i guess we would need 2 football teams also. And 2 reps from betfair if we get the internet on the new planet.and we would need 2 suspend men because you could not ask one suspend man to work all day and night.depending on how long a day would be on the new planet.Laugh

You will need a big screen TV for the pub and a couple of fruit machines.

It's good we can address the important issues rather than the petty squabbles back on earth.

Scientists are puzzled by the rate of increase in the velocity of expansion of the universe and have had to invent dark energy to explain it. The real explanation is that our universe is surrounded by others in the multiverse and their gravitational attraction is providing the acceleration.
If scientists would just read Chit Chat they could solve all the vexatious problems in no time and then retire.
Report brassneck • January 22, 2018 10:43 PM GMT
maybe we are all heading towards a supper massive worm hole that connects two universes together, and as you say the gravitational pull of the other universe is dragging all in.Coolits easier to understand that than the dark energy waffling that the scientists talk about.

There is always an imaginative solution, Brassneck.
When the universe began, matter and anti-matter came into existence and most of it recombined immediately (it's happening all the time everywhere according to Hawking). The puzzle is, why is there some matter left over and where did the anti-matter go? The fact of the matter is that the anti-matter forms an eggshell around the edge of our universe and as matter reaches the edge it is immediately zapped. In the end it will all be gone except for a single atom of hydrogen at the centre and a single positron orbiting it at the perimeter of the universe. Professor Cox will thank me when he reads this.Wink
Report Foinavon • January 22, 2018 11:13 PM GMT
That should be "electron" not hydrogen atom otherwise there would be an imbalance in favour of matter.
