Unlucky with Rae Annie.
Did you bet to win only? |
|
By:
amazed how close it was, a lot of lessons learned for people who bet on this thing I'm sure
Joshua only 18 votes of 3rd, that's got to hurt for the 1.01 backers betting on public sentiment is a dangerous thing! |

By:
Despite the Beeb constantly pushing women sports the 4 women nominated finished bottom 4 in the voting comfortably.
Overall 500,000 votes for male candidates and 40,000 overall for female ![]() BBC seething ![]() HTEHB on Betfair forum? ![]() |

No, akabula, unfortunately I did not back it each way. If I had been in a bookies I probably would have done, but betfair spoty market encourages you in a way to only back win. I thought possibly I could trade out, but they suspended really quickly. I didn't even look at the other spoty markets, I must do in future, but they are usually very weak.

I am truly shocked by that result,i thought Joshua was a Cert.

Anthony Joshua best priced 1/7 with Bookmakers to win SPOTY, Lewis Hamilton best priced 8/1 and Mo Farrah best priced 66/1. Farrah wins and Joshua and Hamilton not in first three!?!? Did bookmakers really get it that wrong or was there another phone jam on certain contestants like in 2015??? Interesting BBC!!!

It is quite gratifying how few voted for anyone - hopefully teach the BBC a lesson.
|
|
By:
Youthquake - blame the young 'uns. They arranged the result below the attention level of the usual suspects (us). They'll have us in camps next, 'for our own safety', then Soylent Green togetherness 'meetings'. Run - now - you think they care for anything beyond that screen?

Anyone who wants to bet on an outcome that can be affected by the following:
Public sentiment A non-indubitable and arguably questionable voting system A broadcaster who has previous history of rigging phone-ins including a choir singing contest https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/bbc-makes-apology-over-vote-rigging-in-contest-dxs3qndgb3s and https://www.dailystar.co.uk/showbiz/482723/FIXED-BBC-accused-of-rigging-SPOTY-Tyson-Fury must need their flippin head tested!!! |

The posting delays on here are 'surprising'. Mo probably deserved it.

I watch plenty of sport but am truly astonished at this list. Surely corrupt? Are they only people who have appeared on BBC Sport/News?
I can understand no one liking Hamilton other than the car racing bores but Joshua omitted lol BBC Sports Personality of the Year: Mo Farah ???? Has a drug cheat coach/About as british as Greg Rusedski Runner-up: Jonathan Rea ???????? Never heard of him Third place: Jonnie Peacock ????????Never heard of him Team of the year: England women's cricket ???????Wtf, cos they not as bad as mens team?? Coaches of the year: Benke Blomkvist, Stephen Maguire and Christian Malcolm (Team GB relay) ???????Who Lifetime achievement: Jessica Ennis-Hill ???Because she took a big moral stance against an `innocent man'?? Unsung Hero award: Denise Larrod ???????Dont they get OBE's? Overseas: Roger Federer Someone I have heard of! Helen Rollason award: Bradley Lowery ?????Mmmm not sure what this has to do with sport! Young Sports Personality: Phil Foden ???????No clue who he is |

Captain carnage - it's obvious to all right-thinking people that you are a totally inappropriate monster with no understanding of how utterly sh*te your thoughts are. How can you have confused no money for watchable sports with no money and no watchable sports.

I understand why you might think that, but you are wrong. There`s a whole world of Specials/RTV betting, with virtually every event being decided by the factors you mention, and there`s a forum on here, `Specials`, just two above `Chit Chat` on the left of your screen. By far the friendliest forum on here, everybody helping each other, learning from each other. If you can be bothered to read enough threads, you will also see that the regulars on there are all long-term winners, all posting what they`re doing pre-event, not after-timing. Using what I`ve learnt from them, I`ve been winning at it for 13 straight years, even though I`m a phucking idiot! The reason it`s so easy is that there`s no hard historical form to go on, meaning the markets are always clueless, leaving results like tonight`s a fairly common event, always accompanied by huge volatility, making it a doddle for traders. Unconvinced? Read enough threads, you`ll see for yourself. |

The Bloke who came second Obviously massive Vote from UK bikers they petitioned to get him in

let's go back to the days when you voted by filling in a coupon from the radio times

Jessica already is a Dame. Now a Lifetime Achievement Award? She's 31!!
Many sportspeople go onto have careers in admin, coaching or some sort of ambassadorial role. Why not wait till she's 60 and see what she does? I guess the nominations came too late for Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose. |

Tim - I'm not criticising people who vote for specials. I read this blog all the time for info but don't post on it and I'm nt just a horse betting man. I'm massively up over the last few years on politics having voted for a tory majority in 2015, Corbyn to retain labour leadership the other year, Brexit and Le Pen to get to French run off. I've even voted on euro vision. I just feel that SPOTY has a combination of 3 elements that make it a dangerous betting medium. BBC with a previous record of rigging phone ins. The fact that on the day public can be swayed by the programme presentation and the bbc will always promote the candidate that fits the organisations profile. Also the fact that it doesn't cost a fortune for a block vote to be generated that tips a result. Mo should have won it before and it's likely that his drug cheating coach held back his chances.
As I've said politics is a great earner. Too many punters read too much into the BBC'S misreporting of political sentiment caused by their liberal extremist values which has a knock on affect to the prices. As much as I hate the BBC they've done wonders for my bank balance :-) |

Another dated, irrelavant, useless, pointless programme in the BBC yearly calendar wasting license payers money ! Looking forward to Eurovision !

i,m with captain carnage thought I had my ear to the ground regards sport but hadn't heard of the 2nd and 3rd and a few more on the list
you can see for different reasons why some didn't get votes, where they were born, live, drugs, tax etc,etc so why go for someone from mogadishi, lives ,trains in the usa who,s coach and himself has been under suspicion for drug cheating, ![]() ![]() |

when spoty started to go wrong
1. princess anne 2. george best |
|
By:
I hadn't heard of 5 of the 12 including 2nd and 3rd.
That either says something about my lack of sporting knowledge or the BBC's spin on sport. I am no sporting mastermind, but will go for the latter. |

on the flip side the votes for the women was very pleasing, shows you cant lump womens sport at people just because its pc to do so,slap in the face for the feminist brigade

BIGNORM; 25 years as an indie bookie has shown me that every punter has their own `betting pattern`; some like lumping on `good things` like AJ at 1.10 yesterday, but anyone betting like that in Specials will lose long term, as Specials is just too volatile to ever justify such prices, yet the supposed `money-buyers` still turn up, trying to be clever. And losing. So, what you refer to as `make it a dangerous betting medium` is spot on, IF you like `bankers` Don`t know how high Mo`s price went yesterday, but I was backing him at various three-figure prices, up to 330. Not trying to show off, merely trying to illustrate what a mad world Specials markets are, and why more people should be getting involved. Unless you like 1.10 bankers, of course!
|

AFTERTHOUGHT your post is pretty stupid as Anthony Joshua the original favourite is not a "Whitey" as you so subtly put it
