First and last time for me!
What I have found is that, allegedly, only 37% of NHS employees have it! |

Yes it does tm, when they have to put their own staff under pressure to have the jab.
And I wonder how many doctors take statins? |
By:
Of course, it could be an incredible coincidence that I have been struck down, just days after the jab, but I don't think so!
This just confirms what older clients have been telling me for years! So, what about the knock on effect, when thousands of NHS staff are similarly affected? They are certainly not going to struggle into work; if only just to prove the point, and will they be castigated if they do? |
By:
I cringe now when I think I used to ask for a flu-jab and actually pay a small fee for it several years ago, as I was self-employed at the time and it seemed a resonable insurance to take. However, after a couple of years it became apparent that every time I had it, I felt foul afterwards and it didn't really stop me getting 'flu'.
Nowadays, I am 'encouraged' to take the flu-jab every year (due to a condition of viral asthama) by my doctor's surgery, but no more. I'm more interested on loading up with very high-dose Vitamins C & D; I'm talking 15,0000 iu's per day of Vitamin D for a month and then 5000 iu's per day during the winter thereafter. In fact, when my surgery tried to persuade me to take a flu-jab a few weeks ago, I requested a vitamin D blood test intstead. This was initially refused, but I pointed out it was a reasonable 'swap' and managed to get itf instead. The NHS have no idea of what flu strain could cause a widespread outbreak or pandemic; they are essentially just taking a bet on it and they struggle to attain 50% effectivness most (if not all) years. |
By:
My understanding is that the vaccine is based on the previous year's strain!
No two years are the same so, as you say, "they are essentially just taking a bet on it".... |
By:
They stick a needle in you that gives you symptoms of flu, then they sell you pills to treat the symptoms.
Sounds like the perfect business to me. And you weren't ill in the first place. |
By:
A bit annoyed when I've said, in contention every year, as to why I don't want it, the doctor has never contested my argument,
but was quite happy to give me it, and in the knowledge that it would indeed make me ill!!! |
By:
If you feel even a touch not 100% before it, deffo a no-no. Even if youre fit and healthy, the jab can still put you under. Had it once and was very ill. Take my chances whether or not catching the real thing nowadays
By:
If the jab they give you is the wrong strain, which is likely.
The jab will make you ill, then you could be ill again from the strain that's doing the rounds. |
By:
Questions to ask yourself.
Who told you that getting the flu jab was a good thing to do? Who supplied them with this information? Do you think the people who tell you the flu jab is a good thing receive any financial incentives from the people who supplied them with this information? Do the people who are ultimately supplying the information get any financial reward from increased numbers taking the jab? If yes do you completely trust the information they are supplying? |
By:
Yes guys thanks.
I know all of that which is why I've declined it every time. Unfortunately my doctor is pretty and I succumbed to her charms. Really ill now, and haven't been out of the house since Friday, and spending more time in bed than not!" I will put her over my knee, next time I see her..... |

U.A. brings up the point of cash incentives for doctors to push treatments.
We already know that the aims of conventional medicine, (or at least the people who pull their strings) is to get as many people taking tablets as possible. Statins are a clear example. And countless other drugs that are developed not to cure, but to simply suppress the symptoms of an illness. What kind of medicine is that? I'd say that is a business driven by cash for the people who supply the drugs. So it's perfectly reasonable to conclude that the same applies to the flu vaccine. The profits of the people who develop the vaccines are at the heart of the matter. And us the public are the ones who ultimately foot the bill. I think we're all being taken for a ride. |
By:
It's well known the latest vaccine is a best guess ! If Islam doesn't get you the flu will !
By:
I am reliably informed about 2 facts regarding the current flu vaccine.
1. For the elderly and immunologically impaired, going through Winter without the vaccine is light walking in the road with your eyes closed. 2. A committee sits down before the flu season starts and looks at all the probabilities and the strains that are going around in other parts of the world. They then develop the most likely vaccine. I reacted to last year's vaccine, but not this years. |
By:
I remember in the early 80's when working in the market, the old bloke that ran the Toy Store said he was going to get the flu jab he was dead within a week, really put me off for years, think Iv'e only had the jab twice & now my immune system is shot to pieces so have been advised to have it, now have a bad cold so wont be having it done till it clears up if at all

By:
Very good Slicer, you can have mine as well.
By:
The developers of the vaccine have to predict which will be the main strain (based upon, I think, the strains that exist where it is winter at the time ie southern hemisphere).
Even if they get this right, the virus can still mutate to the extent that the vaccine is ineffective. About three years ago, the vaccine was only effective against the main strain in three out of 100 people. This was a bad year but the expected rate of effectiveness is only 50%. HOWEVER, my doctor tells me that if you have the vaccine and get the flu, your symptoms are likely to be less severe than if you had not been vaccinated. Take the advice of your GP. |
By:
Very kind Dr Crippen.
By:
Take the advice of your GP.
Absolutely, and with 37% of them not taking the jab themselves that's good enough for me. |
By:
Depends how many of the 37% are of a certain age or have compromised immune systems
By:
Absolutely, and with 37% of them not taking the jab themselves that's good enough for me.
That was wrong, should have been, only 37% of them taking the jab themselves. You're not going to die from the flu jab, but you could die from the real thing. So there's a tiny chance that taking the jab could save your life. That's assuming that the vaccine is the same strain as the one that you got infected with. And of course that it killed you. Yet there's a massive chance that the flu jab will give you the flu - but it won't kill you allegedly, but if it did I'm sure they wouldn't tell the rest. |

And I wonder how many doctors take statins?
What's wrong with taking statins Dr C? |
By:
See the links I supplied on the ''Statins'' thread lower down stewarty.
By:
OK. Will have a look.
By:
Dr C, would you mind if I sent you a PM?
By:
Yes go on stewarty.
By:
Another question to ask, if you are going to put this into your system is What are all the ingredients that go into the flu jab?
By:
Basically there are 2 kinds of flu vaccination, attenuated and killed. The former will give you a mild flu infection, the latter won't, although it may give you some flu symptoms, but no infection.
I'd be surprised if many people get 'the flu' from the vaccine. Most people don't. If they do, I'd suspect a compromised immune system, which makes the vaccine even more likely to save their life. |
By:
I have the flu jab every year. I have never suffered any ill effects from them . Many people confuse a cold with influenza.
By:
If you had flu you would not be bothered with chit chat.

what a gold mine this is for glaxo or whoever
