Runaway Train just starting on Sony Movies+1 right now. A very good 80's film, great ending. Much better than "Unstoppable".

Fook me. He's got 481 acting credits, including roughly 50 that are either in production, or filming.

Incredible isn't it. I thought Christopher Lee had a lot of credits (280) but this guy makes Lee look like he was a part-timer! He must be doing some jobs concurrently (or perhaps he has a double!) When does he get any rest?

It's crazy. It just proves it's all about the money with him rather than a quality film.

I think I'm being generous by saying he's done about ten good films.

Know what you mean. I think Runaway Train, which was made back in 1985, is still the best thing he's been in. (Mind you, with 481 film & tv credits, anyone would be hard-pushed to check out everything he's done!)
Perhaps a 'jobbing actor' in the true sense of the word.

Kwality film! The scence where the cop drinks laxative in the coffee is worth watching the whole film for!

I enjoyed Best Of Best at the time. I'd imagine it hasn't aged well.

He was in The Dark Knight, but he was a long way down the pecking order when it came to the 'stars' of that film.

The Pope of Greenidge Village is a kwality film. If you were a hustler in the eighties you would identify with a number of characters. Roberts and Rourke are both brilliant and it showcases their talents. I read that De Niro and Pacino were ear marked for the roles.

I won't say anymore about the cop and the coffee scene. I would recommend this film to any gambler, sorry Risk Manager! Get away from gambling, have a beer or food and a glass of wine and watch the film.

Cheers Whispering, I see it's only £5.35 on Amazon so I reckon I'll go for it. Sounds like a bargain. Maybe it will be something I can watch over Christmas instead of all the usual rubbish offerings.
I am a gambler and I do enjoy a film that involves the subject of gambling (though I think that's just a coincidence!) My favourites are The Gambler (the 1970's original with James Caan) and Robert Altman's California Split. Would highly recommend these films to anyone who's not seen them (whether you're into gambling or not). I wish they would show these sort of films over Christmas instead of the usual 'festive' stuff. There's nothing worse at Christmas, than Christmas programmes/films! They start in October on some bl00dy channels anyway! . (I think I'm turning into a grumpy old man ).

The film is not about gambling as such, rather not on sports. It is gambling on life and it's consequences. It is not so much a plot movie as an opportunity for these guys to show off and they do in spades. Art imitating life then life imitating art for these guys or so it proved. It just reminds me so much of the 80's and the characters around me at the time.

It's not how much you earn it's the way you spend it that counts! A mantra I have tried to live my life by! Oh and the scene with the cop!

Looking forward to watching it.
(Wish I had started with the same mantra, and 'spent it' rather than 'wasted it' . Oh well, live and not learn, as they say. Still, there are some good films out there..)

The film is actually on youtube if you have a good tv. The copy I saw wasn't great I have to say but I did not look at other versions, just the top one.

Cheers for the tip Whispering, surprising what you can find on YouTube these days!  I'll check it out, but if quality not great on there I might still just go ahead and buy the DVD from Amazon, as it's a pretty good price.
