In Newcastle, they had a multi-agency swoop on the homeless and street beggars. Police, social workers, health workers, the lot, all got together and pulled in everybody on the streets to find out what the problems were and how to help these people. What they found was atrocious. Appalling. Terrible.97% of them were not homeless and begged because it was easier than working. Some even drove down from Scotland to avail themselves of the free money.
YES!
For some, begging is a career-option. And that's a real shame for those who really do need help because I for one don't want to know about them. Sure, I don't begrudge giving to registered charities but those on the street? And chuggers? Forget it.
