Asked in the branch for a new cheque book, and paying in book.

Today I have received three paying in books, in separate envelopes, but no cheque book!!!

As it happens,I hardly ever write a cheque, so no big deal, but very inefficient of them.

This just two weeks after Barclays "Fraud Team" froze my card due to "unusual activity"!
I bought a new car with it, and had paid a deposit earlier. Now I was using it to pay for my road fund license at the dealership.
Very embarrassing, and I would have been stuffed, if I didn't have another card!

why do you need a paying in book

slip/envelope in branch for express deposit or over counter with ya debit card

Because I've always used the quick drop, so I can park and run in, but I didn't have any envelopes.

There were no paying in slips so, as you say, I paid it in with my debit card, but she asked if I needed a paying in book
and I said that I did!

I always used to put a slip in with the cheque, as that was the procedure.

I picked up some Quick Drop envelopes, and there is still a requirement to include a paying in slip, and no longer do they have slips on the counter.
