Agree, zorro. Leave now and pay nothing. Also save the contributions we would pay up to March 2019.

Hear, hear Zorro & Foin.

"Brexit bill: Barnier gives UK two weeks to clarify key issues"

As Burt06 would most likely say, "Nothing to clarify matey, we are leaving the building."

We have offered them tariff free access to one of the most lucrative markets in the world.
What more would they want? Take it or leave it should be our attitude.

when you negotiate (I dun it too)  you demand 100 - the other lot say on your bike 5

you come back and say 80  etcetc  and put out scare stories and threats etc

and so it goes on

me?  I would say stick it - now let's see about whether we will let you flog BMWs  in the uk

don't listen to any of this stuff

the eu is trying to get some of the dosh they are going to lose when we leave

I am laughing at skys lot of 'experts' mulling over it all forensically.  It has nothing to do with
the 'experts'  and even better how labour in the form of keir starmer swallow it hook line and sinker.
And exactly how has this safe seat placeman been an mp??

Sorry eussr -NO DEAL

Yes, we’ve made commitments and we should honour them.
However is the EU a marriage or a club or something else?
A club you can just leave provided you have paid your subscriptions so let’s say that is not the case.
If it’s a marriage then we have to honour commitments but also we should have a share of assets that we have contributed to.
All the talk is about how much we owe but has the the EU been such an abject failure that it has no assets that we should be entitled to having some claim on?
Also we’ve always been a nett contributer.
No doubt it is all going to be very complicated and the lawyers will be big beneficiaries.
A 2 week deadline to come up with a number seems ambitious.

Nah -  it is all part of the scare tactics that any negotiator would try on.  The eu has too much to lose.  Pure propaganda and tactics.

the experts on sky are now framing the narrative as 'A TICKING TIMEBOMB' as the presenter repeats this and says ' This is CERTAINLY a ticking timebomb'

hey let's turn a negotiation into a crisis

by blurting out this karp and labelling the narrative - do they think we are thick or what

It is if someone is trying to start a stampede.  Ie to put the uk on the back foot with the tv media piling in to make it so.

it does not matter - the manufacturers in germany will act on this

There is only a deadline because we created one. It was Britain that triggered Article 50 before we had any real idea of what we wanted, and that set the two year clock ticking.

Whether you support Remain or Leave, the Conservatives have screwed the country by not bothering to formulate a plan.

David Cameron should have set up a Royal Commission on Brexit to agree a plan, and only then held a referendum between this plan or staying in. And God alone knows what Theresa May was thinking when she triggered Article 50.

Corbyn wanted to trigger Article 50 the day after we voted to leave.

So what? He's not the Prime Minister. We are in the current mess because two consecutive Prime Ministers acted without thinking. There was no analysis of what sort of Brexit we wanted, still less how to get there.

Hard or soft? Deal or no deal? The Canadian, Swiss and Norwegian models? EEA, EFTA or CU? No-one knows -- not because it is an official secret but because no-one stopped to think. All this should have been decided before the referendum, and before triggering Article 50.

You don't seem to realise, people thought we would leave and then negotiations would take place after we had left.

That is the only way to get a fair and sensible outcome .
By:

Trade negotiations should last for no longer than 6 months

Freedom of movement should have stopped as soon as A50 was triggered
etc...

You don't seem to realise, people thought we would leave and then negotiations would take place after we had left.

It is that absurd belief that I am complaining about, not arguing against. The shape of Brexit should have been established before the referendum so people knew what they were voting for with Leave or Remain.

But it wasn't. So plan B should have been to plan Brexit before triggering Article 50, not start the countdown and hope something will turn up.
By:
lfc1971
When: 11 Nov 17 09:56
There is no one in Britaun who thought before the referendum that we would not be leaving the EU until negotiations had taken place .
so it is nonsense  for Ramruma to suggest otherwise.
By:
lfc1971
When: 11 Nov 17 09:57
Ok ramruma, what did you think leaving the EU meant when you voted ?
By:
lfc1971
When: 11 Nov 17 10:01
When we voted we all knew that the future outcome in terms of trade would be something that would be an ongoing thing between Britain and the rest of the world .
tharcwas a given, and we voted to leave knowing that.
By:
lfc1971
When: 11 Nov 17 10:06
Can we know what our future trade possibilities will be until we leave?
No , that is why it is wrong to Naha any trade deals ...  until after we have left.
By:
lfc1971
When: 11 Nov 17 10:09
We cannot negotiate good and fair trade deals with the EU, while we are still part of the EU

I did not vote Remain. I don't want to be part of a European superstate. My complaint is that we are lumbering towards the worst of all possible worlds because our politicians have stitched us up -- not through malice but incompetence.
By:
lfc1971
When: 11 Nov 17 10:29
really ? In what way have they stitched us up, what has changed since you voted ?
By:

When: 11 Nov 17 10:47
We shouldn't be getting this @arse about face. The vote to leave was a political decision not an economic one. "Soft Brexit" is a cop out invented by remainiacs believing all the doom and gloom propaganda which has been churned out since Cameron announced the vote.
What we would like is tariff free trade. If we can't get that then we go to WTO rules.
If there the political will was there, a deal could be knocked out in no time at all as we already follow all the rules of free access. The political will is not there from the EU side so we should just pick up our ball and leave now. No further payments.
