tory on sky almost just said your better off spending money on ciggs and smoking than playing fotb,s, they had a bloke on this morning who went to fotb,s after not getting his 2,3 grand bets on,obviously he,ll find somewhere else now to gamble his 1000,s, not really a good example imo

i knew of folk doing their wages on fruit machines at 10p a spin.

i guess folk will find a way if steaks are reduced, sad really, and
its only pushing the problem down the road anyway.

Cut the bookies margins and everyone will lose their money slower.
Report FredRescue October 31, 2017 9:20 PM GMT
People can currently lose £100 a spin in 20 seconds.

Government proposes cutting to £50 max a spin.

So it will take 40 seconds to lose instead.

This will not stop problem gambling (nap)

These machines should be in casinos only.
Report STUDYFORM November 1, 2017 7:57 AM GMT
Bookie's margins are less than 1/2 what they were £20 years ago.
Also the expenses are about treble what they were.
Which is why hardly any independent bookies are left.

The machines should be banished completely. The money played on them will eventually return to OTC betting.

As for staff being lost and betting shops closing. That's rubbish. Betting shops employ far fewer staff now because of the machines and pay them minimum wage wherever possible.

The main beneficiaries of FOBTs are the companies who provide them and the government, which is why they weren't banned years ago.

They shouldn't even be in casinos. Casinos already have roulette!
