Most surreal moment for me ever the other day. Driving along the motorway and out of nowhere a deer jumped out straight on to my windscreen. Luckily it bounced off and not through the windscreen. Got off with minor scratches and a small scratch to my eye from the glass.

Twice I have had a deer jump off a hillside in front of me whilst cycling downhill ......wouldn't want it to make contact , think it would be a painful trip to hospital.

Loved the one the other day where a Badger broke into a house, eat all the catfood, then went for a nice cosy snooze in the cats bed.

Owners came back to find it still curled up :)

aka - Kenny will be happy to know the fecker rolled off and ran off the motorway. I can't imagine it could take that impact and be ok though, we were going 70.

LOL was about to say could have been worse and could have been an Elk or something (a hazard in some countries) and came across this amusing story :)

"A drunken elk desperate for just one more mouthful of fermenting apples lost its balance in the attempt, leaving it stuck in an apple tree in western Sweden. "

A mate of mine was driving in Ireland and a horse jumped over a wall and came through his windscreen. Really messed him up. Months in and out of hospital.

How big was this deer Hank, and how fast were you going?
Report Hank Hill October 29, 2017 5:05 PM GMT
pxb that is awful Sad

Well, I only saw it for a split second, but around 120/130 pounds I suppose. I was going around 70.

I remember reading that 10 people a year are killed in the UK by a deer jumping in front of their car. Could have been bad!

I'm surprised you got away with it Hank. At 70 mph this could have been you.....

In Australia we don't have this problem. As anyone driving in the bush has a bull bar designed to handle a collision with a cow. Kangaroos just bounce off them. I hit 3 in about 20 minutes once. Didn't even scratch my bullbar.

Although I was in Newman a few years ago talking to a car mechanic, and he told me that a few days earlier he'd a car in where an eagle had come through the windscreen and really messed up the driver.

Driving in remote areas, you see eagles feeding on roadkill beside the road all the time, and they have the habit of taking off when you get within a few yards.

Ther was a worse one in the news today, in the US a 22 year old woman was driving along, a 12 year old jumps from overpass trying to kill himself, comes through windscreen, kills her and he survives ..
