What on earth possessed them?
Report workrider October 21, 2017 5:50 PM BST
Maybe its the way he drives his economy that won it for him....Laugh

He fits the narrative. Anti white.

To think, Zim used to be an EXPORTER of food. Why? Due to white Zim farmers. They got killed or told to leave and the blacks don't know which end of a spade to use.

(Have Zim friends, both black and white so I kinda know..mate of mine's dad was killed Sad )
Report workrider October 21, 2017 7:10 PM BST
Shameful what he did to a once great Country, not a word from the lefties you'll notice, at least the Irish Government have made their feelings known.
Report Injera October 21, 2017 7:13 PM BST
V little coverage of SA.

Universities have been burnt but nothing from our press.
Report King Louis October 21, 2017 7:56 PM BST
I just cannot fathom why they would even consider Mugabe, it seems like madness. Or corruption, perhaps?
Report akabula October 21, 2017 7:58 PM BST
Think the latter more likely.
Report King Louis October 21, 2017 8:02 PM BST
I had thought of the WHO being beyond reproach. Maybe I need to rethink that opinion now?
Report boxingthefox October 21, 2017 8:03 PM BST
The organisation that appointed him is the WHO, maybe this guy had something to do with it, Wink. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is an Ethiopian politician, and  Director-General of the World Health Organization.
Report King Louis October 21, 2017 8:03 PM BST
Of all the worthy candidates in the world to choose from they pick Robert Mugabe! It just doesn't make any sense, like some sort of bad joke.
Report King Louis October 21, 2017 8:06 PM BST
Who have they chosen as his deputy, Kim Jong Un?
Report akabula October 21, 2017 8:08 PM BST
As long as it's not Sturgeon or Salmond.
Report mad mad moon October 21, 2017 8:10 PM BST
Totally ridiculous. What next? Tony Blair as some kind of Middle-East peace envoy!

Laugh
Report King Louis October 21, 2017 8:14 PM BST
The worrying thing is that this was presumably a collective decision, the WHO must have a board of directors who make these sort of choices. I find it almost unbelievable that someone didn't pipe up and say "you surely must be ******* joking!"

Report King Louis October 21, 2017 8:19 PM BST
If you stop to think about it, there are only a tiny handful of people on the entire planet who would be a worse choice. It really is quite an astonishing decision. Does anybody at all support it?
Report akabula October 21, 2017 8:25 PM BST
Ozzy Osbourne was second choice.
Report King Louis October 21, 2017 8:26 PM BST
I didn't believe it was true at first.

Just the latest reminder of how much corruption there is in this world...
Report Injera October 21, 2017 8:32 PM BST
Foxy - Ethiopia is corrupt as hell. Made a trip there some years ago. They should not starve but they choose to. No water harvesting, no concern for their people. Agriculture stuck in the dark ages. Choose not to embrace western farming methods. Very sad.
Report akabula October 21, 2017 8:37 PM BST
Will be interesting to see who comes out in support of his appointment.
Report doantwin2easy October 21, 2017 8:58 PM BST
I thought Goodwill Ambassador was the actual name of the person they appointed, when I first hear this story.

Report olddesperado October 22, 2017 7:53 AM BST
Due to the level of criticism they have decided to review the appointment.

Every board member should be mamed and made to explain the reasoning behind appointment.
Ffs what did they expect.

Malawi cracks down on 'vampire' lynch mobs

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-41692944
Report trilby22 October 22, 2017 10:44 AM BST
Police in the south-east African state of Malawi say they have arrested 140 members of lynch mobs who attacked people suspected of being vampires.

In Mozambique, protesters have targeted police because they believe they are protecting the supposed vampires, leading a northern town's administrator to flee the city.

Did Corbyn and/or Abbott have anything to say about this shameful appointment?

Corbyn was admittedly a bit busy in Brussels at the end of last week, disgracefully doing his very best to try and undermine Britain's interests and Brexit.

Corbyns stance is that a deal must be done and a no deal shouldn't be considered.
No answer when asked if he'd accept any deal rather than a no deal.
