Deaths by bombs, shootings, even train crashes make bigger news than what kills us most: old age, cancer, heart disease and apparently pollution.
Odd world. |

0.1% is one mass killing for every 1,000 traffic violations. Looking at it that way it's extremely worrying. I think it sounds high myself, but then without looking at the study in detail, it means nothing. Less than nothing if it is misleading in it's message.

I wonder how much is spent on tackling this .1% of crime ?

Not much is spent on any tackling of any crime.

You think monitoring 3,500 potential terrorists comes cheap? It probably sucks up a fair bit of the money they used to spend catching thieves.
|
|
By:
Terrorism equates to just 0.1% of crime in England and Wales
That is a lot. One in a thousand crimes is terrorism. Almost all crimes are minor property crimes. Which makes terrorism a much bigger percentage of serious crimes. I'll leave the abuse of statistics alone. |

there were about 4 million crimes a year a few years back then police were encouraged to stop not allocating
crime numbers etc and we have an extra million or so crimes. with 20 or so percent of crimes not previously thought worthy of recording if police can track criminals and arrest them for online activity then great why they need to record everybody's online activity is a blunt tool indeed |

Classic liberated spin. Fact is 0.1% is a huge number, way way way higher than it used to be, before they opened the doors to the scum.

Now an analysis of crime figures from London and New York by the Daily Telegraph show some parallels between the cities, as well as some shocking divergences which may leave British taxpayers asking what has gone so wrong in policing the capital.
While the sizes of population, numbers of police officers, and even police force budgets of the two cities are strikingly similar, the analysis reveals there are three times more reported rapes in London, and “you are almost six times more likely to be burgled in the British capital than in the US city, and one and a half times more likely to fall victim to a robbery”. |

This is a ridiculous misuse of statistics. Brain cancer (or even all cancers?) is going to be less than 0.1% of first visits to a GP doesn't mean it's not bl00dy serious!!!!!
Trying to say a nutter cutting your throat or blowing you to bits should be lumped in as the same effective unit of badness as someone doing 34mph in a 30 zone or having an stupid argument with their neighbour is insane. What are the statistics related to total murders or attempted murders in England and Wales as a %. THAT would be a relevant figure. |
