To me she came across as extremely racist and sexist herself.

Neil and Portillo showed up her many offensive claims to be entirely baseless, while the joker Ed Balls just stared deeply into her eyes and nodded sympathetically.

I watched that. She had her opinion and issues, and no amount of facts would dissuade her, so she just kept digging a deeper hole for herself.

Who could have thought that a black transexual might have felt alienated at school?

The fact she has had negative experiences does not mean we are all unfixable racists.

It could be worse, she could be living in a different country.

So why does a person with such poisonous opinions receive air time ? Because it is challenging ?

It was hard to watch at times, the gulf in intellect between her and Neil/Portillo made for cringeworthy viewing.

Her whole argument when pressed seems to be based on her own personal experience which as you suggest is quite unique.
She was happy to bring up the violence that happened in building the Empire but wouldn't accept the violence in black peoples history was relevant.

Suggesting the UK is inherently racist is just silly given the way that immigrants were not just accepted but welcomed into our country in the 50s, 60s, and 70s and even the 80s. What has happened since is a certain group having caused resentment by their refusal to accept the British culture whilst trying to force theirs on us.

Andrew Neil could have mentioned this. Other papers covered it but I'll put the link to the "right wing" independent.
It's absolutely horrific, even in the middle ages I don't think Europeans did anything this evil:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/africa/congo-woman-raped-luego-video-kamuina-nsapu-beheaded-serving-fish-a7993026.html

That's black people doing that to black people, and that sort of thing is not uncommon, look at all the mad religious groups over that way.

The ironic thing is this person is probably a model as this person has light skin ! For this person to say white people were the most violent and dangerous species on the planet was in itself racist ! (I have referred to this individual as "this person" so as not to upset any of the more sensitive souls on here) Mischief

It was most depressing seeing this person parroting hate speech which has no relevance to the present in this country. It is alarming to think that these beliefs are likely to be prevalent among the younger generations and are probably being taught to the young by those who should know better and some with malicious intent.

I had a Chinese Canadian lady here yesterday, a writer. She has lived in London for a good part of the last decade, and now resides in Paris. She cannot believe how much the race card is used in this country and in her experience there is little racism here compared to many countries, including France. There are food establishments near her home which will only serve her take out food and drink, her Black American flatmate has actually been refused service altogether. I doubt this could happen here any more.

Saddo,

If this person is a writer why doesn't she name and shame these restaurants?

Ask her what they are called please!

little racism compared to other countries is maybe correct but still not good

we dont want to be a bit less fascist than germany nor a bit less totalitarian than venezuela

she seemed to be given a spot to rant , maybe bbc is looking for tweets ....

always makes me chuckle when anyone from the LGBT community has a pop abut racism.

when in fact the LGBT community is absolutely rife with racism itself.  staggering levels of racism actually.

further and prove they weren't racist!  A truly vile creature he/she/that was

People sometimes confuse intolerance with dislike. They can force people to tolerate almost anything, they can never force people to like something.
