Whoever is reporting posts won't own up and is/are probably revelling in threads like this.
Good luck to them if that floats ther boat but pointless going on about it as it'll only encourage them.

The people running this forum (they're not really moderators) often don't understand what a complaint is about and, are quite often not very good at English, so a load of reports about a single post will often result in a ban.

Which is what I was complaining about.

When I got my warning for my post about Corbyn and McDonnell it quoted the phrase that I had used that was found to be offensive.
What I said was the generally held view of them but that cut no ice.

They ARE revelling in it, absolutely but they won't stop. SO BF need to start looking a bit more closely at the reports and who is putting them in.

Every time one of your posts gets deleted, some of your time has been wasted and some sad jerk is patting himself on the back.
It makes no difference if you go on about it or not, they'll carry on doing it.
It's a replacement for going out to work or being of any use to society.

Imagine having nothing better to do with your time than to monitor the forum trying to get people banned because they aren't fellow knuckle draggers.

Is it the same 'knuckle draggers' who also get my posts removed regularly? I somehow doubt it, I'll leave you to find a suitable collective noun for em.

You won't stop it but you'd think that b/f would notice it is the same people over and over doing the reporting.
I say the same people because I don't think the vast majority of posters are that easily offended.

I've forgotten how many times I've been reported. I have gone over the top a fair few times but have always apologised when shown to be in the wrong, this place seems devoid of banter now which I think is a shame.

Tis a shame Foxy but only b/f can do anything about it and they probably aint that concerned with the forum.
Anyways I'm off now. Goodnight all.

The moderators find those who have been too offensive with marvellous accuracy , judging by some of the names here who have been banned .

I think it's possible to report anonymously too, akabula, but I'm not sure. I'm absolutely certain most forum users aren't so easily offended.
10 years ago it was fun and had hundreds more regular users and there was no report button and it was properly managed.
There was even a Betfair Community Manager, (more than one, in fact). I had the pleasure of an evening out with some of them.
It's run from outside now and not by BF itself. And it's got a bit political and has been infiltrated by the people I was moaning about yesterday (no doubt the same ones who got the thread removed), who were asked to "spread the word via forums" and have never stopped.

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever from studyform ,
Why are posts being removed , it's s complete mystery sometimes .
But it has got nothing to do with some right wing plot
complete nonsense .

Look I will explain why studyforms post was removed, it was not removed because of anything he said ( I mean the 2nd thread)
It was removed because of something the leopard posted .

The thread that studyform put up complaing about his thread being pulled , which then in turn was pulled .
It had nothing on it that was said by studyform it was leopards post .
Not that leopards comment was particularly anything to worry about , it didn't worry me,

so why would the mods warn study and not leopard?

and why ban do wah diddy if they are so incisive
By:
lfc1971
When: 12 Oct 17 00:56
Well study said he was warned about his comments on the BBC and the thread was pulled

When he put up a thread complaining about his thread being pulled this then went as well :)
But that thread went because of something the leopard said

The final post in that thread.
By:
lfc1971
When: 12 Oct 17 01:20
Thinking about it leopards post was not something that anyone was likely to report, apart from perhaps myself.
And as I didn't report it , and I don't think anyone else would have it seems that what is being said is scrutinised by the mods even without anyone reporting.

Then if we take the reason given to studyform for the ist thread being pulled, that was something he said about BBC diversity and nothing he said would have been reported imo
So there again the mods have pulled that thread , and told studyform that people had reported it
I doubt if that is true either.
The moderators made the decision , certainly in the second case without anyone reporting it.
By:
lfc1971
When: 12 Oct 17 01:22
In the second thread I mean, no one reported anything on that thread, but it was pulled because of something the leopard said , without being reported.
So there is active monitoring of what is being said on the forum.

i was once chatting on the football forum about cheating and mentioned a name

the person i was chatting with mentioned a name and post was removed within a minute or less

he repeated the post and it was removed again after briefly appearing

i said the mods must be watching, (and they couldnt have been acting on a report as it was so quick)

anyway neither of us got warned

when i got banned it said forum is not actively moderated, so i assume it is not

You see you have to understand what the report button is for.
Why it was put in.
It was not added so that we could report on things that we didn't like that were offensive or whatever.

It has nothing to do with that. It was more subtle.
It was put in so that it would be a kind of cover for the people who run the forum, betfair or whoever.
They can have the illusion that the forum is being regulated by ourselves , that is an easy way of disguising that they themselves are monitering everything that is said
Not very efficiently of course because some innocuous things are censored.

But the point is quite a subtle and clever thing they have done. The report button is not there to help us moderate the forum
If is there so as they can say , as in the case of studyforms ist thread that people had complained .. they hadn't.
And the second thread that people had complained , they hadn't.
