The Scottish government is to set up a publicly-owned, not-for-profit energy company, Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed.
The SNP leader told the party's conference that the company will sell energy to customers at "as close to cost price as possible".
Ms Sturgeon said it would be set up by 2021, and would give people - particularly on low incomes more  choice of which supplier to use

The Scottish government are running Prestwick airport it is making massive loses and the Scottish government are filling the black hole
They may well be better at running an energy company or maybe it is a vote buying gimmick

Everything they touch fails.
Scottish police in turmoil, Scottish education at an all time low and the Scottish NHS struggling.
What can go wrong.

The Queensferry Crossing

Designed by English firm Arus.
German Engineering contract.
Built with Chinese steel.
Constructed by Eastern Europeans.
Steel fabrication done in Spain and Poland.
Funded by a PFI deal with Qatar.
Repayments funded by Westminster.

The ONLY thing Scottish about the bridge is it's location. Laugh

Free Tuition Fees.

Not entirely correct as thousands of Scots are refused places because of the quota system in place.

Yes, and free unlimited bus travel anywhere in Scotland for the ever growing silver surfing army, but it isn't free is it?, it has to be paid for, and it is on tick.

The SNP has focused on popular vote winning policies whilst ignoring other priorities.

Hopefully a national energy company can return the massive tariffs currently on electricity bills by securing the infrastructure and investing in production via pumped storage ,solar panel technology ,wind tech and that means solar manufacturing ,turbine manufacturing ect ,a green bank was muted but don't think this happened , better uk governments own and run the infrastructure opposed to foreign governments ,future generations need to see a return on all those tariffs on current bills . Disappointed Coire GLass  600Mw pumped storage has not got going yet and hopefully this will now change but unsure of all the issues and but outside investment is greedy and only want the profits so be happy for the government to invest and control and control via infrastructure and network ownership .The energy supply sector knows no limits when it comes to greed and consumers are getting zero return on the tarrifs ,which are one of the worst poor to rich subsidies ever to be created .

Presuably they have an eye on Nottingham's Robin Hood power scheme and  desperately hope its a success.
If I coud bet on it I would be  on large that the SNP scheme will never happen.

Quite happy that there will be no fracking in Scotland ,think most of the potential resources are under the central belt so seems sensible to leave it alone ,we're at a time when tectonic plate movement appears to be on the increase and can't see the sense in letting such new tech loose under the feet of the most population dense areas ,there is also ecological concerns so right decision may this time was made .

The only thing the SNP are likely to achieve, given enough time, is a ruination of the Scottish countryside .

'Twas a sad day when the SNP towed a bridge from china to the Firth of Forth ,Telford et all must of been turning In thar graves ,let's hope it's better than the pandas ,more dodgy claptrap comes from china than anywhere else on earth ,they is always at the con ,at the shortcut ,let's hope the bridge ain't fake ,as for cost that's just made up rubbish ,the old bridge had been neglected and they dodged a bullet thar ,still needs repaired and the offset of a new cheap bridge is negated ,would have been happy for a tunnel under the Forth by a UK construction company ,only time will tell if it was cheap or not ,hopefully some skills have been retained .

The Queensferry crossing seems to be suffering some major problems since opening in terms of congestions but  Transport Minster Hamza Yousaf has put everybody's minds at rest by reassuring them that the problem should only last another 4 weeks. All Scots are aware of his previous exemplary record at dealing with transport delays and are now thoroughly confident that such delays will be sorted in these timescales.

She looked like she was suffering from constipation to me, and still SEETHING about something that happened in the year she was born. She didn't mention that her party's predicted revenues from North Sea Oil were TEN times the actual figure.
