Do they have concrete proof it's all true?

No doubt his customers will be after compo.
Report Crisp77 September 30, 2017 3:19 PM BST
Lots of these food safety cases been pointed out recently by the media.

Yes they are the favoured food of drunks. You have to have a high spirit level.

Merely a slap on the wrists considering how persistently he ignored inspectors and not much of a deterrent to others enriching themselves by cutting corners.
Report Crisp77 September 30, 2017 4:07 PM BST
I think the prison sentence sends out a huge warning. Quite a few takeaway owners will be bricking themselves.
Report Foinavon September 30, 2017 4:15 PM BST
Four months is only a token sentence, he will be out in two. As you say, fair warning though and makes you wonder about what goes on elsewhere. The ones we know about, horsemeat, swapping kill date labels, food on floor etc. are only the tip of the iceberg as the inspectors can't be everywhere.

Like some really suspect food after ballast orders me.

I like the way that there are two distinct conversations running in parallel on this thread.

One dialogue rightly concerns itself with the detail of this criminal case, and ongoing issues relating to food safety.

The other one simply wants to offer up some fairly run-of-the-mill puns relating to water and sand-based building material.

Hopefully, ne'er the two will mix.
Report Crisp77 September 30, 2017 6:25 PM BST
Well I'm stopping with the puns. I'm throwing the trowel in. Cry
Report Foinavon September 30, 2017 6:35 PM BST
from hereon, kebabs will lie heavy on the stomach. Best washed down with a cup of builder's tea.

As far as I'm concerned a couvert in the Michelin guide is roughing it.

Alun, while my first contribution were clearly a pun, my comment regarding compo was a genuine and sincere attempt to alert any customers who may have suffered gastro-intestinal problems as a result of the hygiene issues aware that there may be a civil, legal route to financial recompense.

However, I do accept that I could have been clearer, and that there may be readers who would associate compo with a colloquialism for composite building material.

Jack - what happened to that second post of your about 'compo'?  I can't see it anymore. Has it been deleted???

Anyway, I've heard it's complete rubble.

Kebabs not the same these days. They used to get a huge carving knife and slice off tasty chunks from the rotating meat and give it an extra minute on the barbecue but now they get an electric cutter and greasy, slimey, slivers of meat all you get
Report xmoneyx October 2, 2017 10:25 AM BST
