TfL has concluded the ride-hailing app firm was not fit and proper to hold a private hire operator licence.

Uber said that it plans to “immediately challenge [the decision] in the courts.” The San Francisco-based group added that if the decision stands, “it will put more than 40,000 licenced drivers out of work.”
TfL said that Uber has 21 days to appeal the decision and that it can continue to operate until the process has been completed.
London mayor Sadiq Khan said he “fully” supports TfL’s decision: “Providing an innovative service must not be at the expense of customer safety and security,” he said.

Anyone would think from these disgraceful figures  that there might be a community of sex perverts out there taking jobs as taxi drivers specifically to get their hands (and the rest) on vulnerable female passengers.

I'm guessing though that the POlice and Home Office will be doing a full root and branch review of these taxi driver sex attackers to determine if there is a common or prevalent profile for the offender, and publishing their findings far and wide for all to see.

All Uber drivers have to get a PCO license and to get this you need to pass a CRB check(same as black cab driver), pass a medical and do a topographical knowledge test.

Warboys was a black cab driver....look him up !

leopard minicab drivers are suppose to go through the same vetting procedures and have the same medical as taxi drivers but often do not, mainly thanks to puber. they encouraged people to use a certain firm to do the crb/dbs checks and 13,000 drivers did. this check was subsequently found to be not up to the required standard. amazingly, tfl are letting these drivers carry on working until they get the correct checks done. puber encouraged drivers to use doctors who arent even registered with the gmc. undercover reporting found these doctors provided fake medicals. again tfl have let the drivers (who have actually committed fraud) carry on working.

rape/sexual assault is so rare in a black cab it is big news when it happens. the case you refer to was a decade ago and he should have been caught long before he was but the met were useless.

puber choose which crimes to report and a senior police officer complained they only reported the less serious ones. one case you may or may not have have heard of is that of one of their drivers sexually assaulted a passenger but puber would not report it to the police. a few days later he committed a more serious sexual assalut for which he was imprisoned for 12 years. in another case a passenger did a runner because the puber driver got involved in a road rage incident and chased the other party down the road with what the passenger thought was a gun. puber investigated themselves and found out it was pepper spray which apparently is ok so they did not inform the police. they are no better when a passenger attacks a driver either.

at sentencing in one recent rape case the judge said no one is safe in a minicab. we need higher standrads not the lower ones puber wants.

black cab drivers have been in the forefront of a campaign to bring the rape/sexual assault figures into the public domain, sadly both tfl and the met have obfuscated. neither of these organisations want to disagregate the figures, this is because the actual numbers show you are far, far safer in a black cab than in a minicab.

the 700,000 number signing the petition sounds impressive, the trouble is the petition is open to anyone anywhere in the world. there have also been complaints from people saying they have received an email thanking them for signing when they have not in fact signed. IT'S A FAKE PETITION.

puber have lost their licence because they havent followed the rules and regulations, it has nothing to do with the licensed taxi trade. i find it laughable that a firm that prospered because it was so well connected is now complaining.

the daily mail (not my usual read by any stretch) did a series of articles looking at the cronyism between the cameron government and puber. puber employed rachel whetstone who was a close personal friend of cameron. when bozo was updating the private hire regulations he had many, many phone calls from ten downing st and from eleven dowing st as osborne and his advisers also appear to have been lobbying on puber's behalf. for five years puber got everything they wanted, i've seen leaked emails from senior tfl staff who were coaching puber in how to circumvent the regulations that tfl are suppose to enforce.

what further gets my goat is when the so called free market supporters complain it's anti choice and anti-technology. we were using the  technology they claim is revolutionary two years before puber even launched in london.  anyone with even the most basic understanding of microeconomics should recognize a firm engaged in predatory pricing as it seeks to kill off the competition and become a monopoly. puber have a multi billion pound war chest which they use to subsidize the fares. this policy is working as there are 25% less minicab firms than they were 5 years ago. if puber succeed their prices will eventually rise dramatically and the public will have nowhere else to go.

puber claim 40,00 drivers will lose their jobs and they are worried about them, that's another lie as the actual number is about 25,000 and there is nothing to stop them from working for any other minicab firm.  these are of course the same drivers who puber are fighting in employment court as they dont even want to guarantee them the minimum wage. besides which puber is spending billions on driverless technology and will get rid of all the drivers as soon as they can.

this whole scandal has been completely ignored for the best part of five years, its only in the last six months or so that our wonderful free press instead of just faithfully repeating the puber bs have actually started examining their business model. sadly i have no faith that they wont subsequently get their licence and carry on putting the public and their drivers in danger. the long and the short of it is that puber are just a mincab firm with an app, they can dress it up with wonderful language anyway they want but that's what they are. sadly they are a mincab firm that wont follow even the most basic of rules and regulations and because of this society is suffering.

A brilliant Firm they would pick me up anywhere anytime ,I knew the owner his family controllers Etc 70 % of the Drivers were

Asian ,They helped us when Family moved flats etc they were very handy when My daughters were in their teens and would end up

Stranded at various places ,One call they were on their way ,A fantastic service basically at my Beck an call , All

properly Checked and Registered with the Local council at the time ..

AS half the people posting on here prob leave the House once a month, I would presume their Knowledge on the cab Industry is Limited

i am definitely not anti asian or muslims but i've seen a list of the convicted sex offending mincab drivers from the last year and none of them have traditional british sounding names, but that's not surprsing as i believe 90% of minicab drivers in london are born outside the uk. the fact that an attempt has been made to get puber to follow the rules only came about under a muslim asian mayor. there is little doubt in my mind that if goldsmith had won puber would have carte blanche to carry on as before.

leopard i have told you before i am a london cabbie. disprove anything in my post, there are currently 13,000 working mincab drivers in london who havent got a crb/dbs check, etc, etc, etc. my guess is you havent even heard of many of the things i mentioned in my post??? as i said at the end of my post there is much, much more but sadly not many people in the press have showed any interest in reporting it.

tfl have known that the dbs checks werent up to scratch since january i think it is but have only recently told the drivers to get new ones done. its fact, try google i am sure you'll find something there. of course it isnt propaganda, that's what puber and their multi-million pound pr budget do with the help of senior tory politicians and compliant journalists.

they are suppose to ibra. foreign born drivers are suppose to provide a letter of good character from their home country but with so many coming from war ravaged places i doubt this has been enforced. such letters can be purchased on the internet i am told. it would be far more sensible to insist that anyone who wanted to be a private hire driver had lived in the uk for a certain number of years so that their character could be vouched for.

english language tests (which puber are fighting) should help a bit. i think minicab drivers will be forced to have the same advanced driving test as taxi drivers soon too. both sensible measures imo.

With top level Sat Navs....you do not need The Knowledge.

on three successive days in the summer mini cab drivers were coming at me the wrong way down one way streets, their sat navs obviously arent that good.

i dont set the rates, tfl do. i quite often let people off part of the fare, mainly due to my embarrassment at the time it takes to get anywhere in london because of tfl's disastrous management of the roads.

i am in competition with the legitimate private hire industry, buses, tubes, bikes, trains, walking. i dont mind competition, as i mentioned in my post puber are the ones trying to kill off the competition. you expect me to just roll over against a company that doesnt follow the rules and is engaged in predatory pricing as it seeks to become a monopoly. we were already using the technology the public think puber introduced.

there is no closed shop anyone who wants to can do the knowledge.

there have been several tests of sat nav following mini cab drivers against taxi drivers and we won every time

I have a top level tom-tom satnav and has all the traffic information and will reroute to me to choose the fastest route automatically..... It has saved me hours and hours being stuck in traffic jams…… I bet you have one two but don't like to admit it

the rating system is a blunt instrument leopard, i feel sorry for drivers who work at night getting rated by drunks. it didnt weed out the buckingham palace sword man. he followed a sat nav and thought he was going to windsor castle but  his sat nav took him to a pub in victoria called the windsor castle, it would be funny but for the fact that what he got up to is so serious. it didnt stop the sexual attacker i described earlier. etc, etc, etc.

puber and their friends in the press have framed the debate as luddite taxi drivers against technological advance which is nothing but propaganda, propaganda that you have fallen for. as i said before, we were using this technology before puber even launched. there is nothing wrong with competition, all i want is fair competition not a tax avoiding, foreign registered, heavily financed bunch of crony capitalists engaged in predatory pricing in an attempt to kill off the competition so they can charge what they want.

i expect that despite their repeated failure to follow the rules they will be allowed to continue and in a few years time the public will complain there are few other cab firms left when they have to pay puber's surge prices.
