Got a feeling I used them myself to run a credit check on myself a while ago, the offered from what I remember (and this is a laugh) security checking on your behalf to alert you if wierd things were happening to your credit rating?

Companies like this that hold vast amounts of incredibly sensitive information about near everyone should be like Fort Knox, if they are letting it all leak out there should be penalties and possibly prosecutions imho. Did they have their servers open to the internet or let a temp walk out with a USB drive of info?

Oh this is just TOO GOOD!

https://www.equifax.co.uk/data-breach/react.html

"Equifax is ideally placed to help businesses if they experience a data breach."

"Equifax Protect enables businesses to offer their customers and employees a range of tools so that they can react fast and take appropriate action to reduce the risk of fraud."

"We have suffered a breach ourself, as our own data protection turned out to be as useful as a paper bag when carrying a goldfish home from the fair. Through this experience of not properly protecting sensitive information, we shall tell your executives how to sell your shares in your company days before the breach is exposed."

(last sentence is my own, the others are theirs on that link)
