Man just seen this on the news:

Who's to say but I'd bet the stress contributed to her cancer. Tragic.

I think you are quite possibly correct.

How sad.  Assume Sams is still going strong courtesy of HMP.

Jill Saward (Ealing vicarage rape) also died earlier this year, similar age.

ooh tell more.

I think the medical profession no very little about the impact of stress/trauma on the human body. IMO without doubt it can cause irreversible damage.

I still have a picture of me and Sams and two other lads out on a stag night ..the Sun newspaper offered me money for the photo but I couldn't do it

Sad news this.

I recall the case well .Didn't assume Sams was doing ok though  , presumed he was dead as thought he was near 60 when he was caught , but i see he was 50 when arrested in 1992 .

It was strange as he really gave the police the run around with some clever ruses , despite only having 1 leg  . But then he doesn't bother to disguise his voice in the tape recordings ?

One thing i remember is Crimewatch boasting how they solved the case because viewers phoned in when they played the tape and named Sams . But the police had sat on that for weeks while Sams was at alrge .Why not just put it out on the news ffs

Tragic and seems like not very long ago.

Hard to come to terms that it was 25 years ago!
